ItsMillerTime
David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday the hockey club has signed forward Trevor Smith to a one-year contract. Smith, 29, played 28 games for the Maple Leafs last season, collecting nine points (four goals, five assists) with four penalty minutes. The 6-1, 195-pound forward also collected 10 goals, 16 assists, 26 points and 10 penalty minutes while serving as captain of the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies in 2013-14. Smith made his Maple Leafs debut October 8 against Colorado, becoming the 900th player in franchise history. The native of Ottawa, Ontario, also missed 24 NHL games (Dec. 19-Feb. 8) due to a broken hand Source:http://mapleleafs.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=725976 Will he make the team? He seemed like he did pretty decent. With nine points in 28 games. Go Canucks go!
Plum
Would have liked him as a depth player on the Canucks.
MayRayDown
Would have liked him as a depth player on the Canucks. We have better and younger depth players
Plum
We have better and younger depth playersNo we don't. We don't have better ones, sure Lain, Archibald, Zalewski, Kenins are good future 4th liners but Trevor Smith is a NHL player on some teams, he's PPG in the AHL and did well with 4th line minutes in the NHL. Trevor Smith could be a great 13th forward and Sestito could be our 14th forward.
DeltaSwede
He's alright, surprising that anyone would want him on the Canucks. Pretty much a Pascalle Pelletier type.
Ghostsof1915
Jensen got 6 points in 17 games. We need our younger guys to step in and contribute.
Dogbyte
He's actually a pretty decent player. I was impressed from what I saw and I'm biased towards hating leafs ... so that's gotta mean something.
Totes McGoats
Classic Nonis - Signs every plug on earth. I'm shocked that he hasn't signed Brad Isbister, Byron Ritchie and Jan Bulis yet. Marc Chouinard might be a good fit in Toronto also.
