Jake Virtanen at Center. Discussion

So, Virtanen initially went into the WHL as a Center. Then of course as things change he was moved to wing, where someone with a big body like his should be.

Could he be our future Number 1C though?

If he went back to his junior team, and played Center he could do some serious damage with the right wingers.

If he worked well at Center then F ya.

Jensen Virtanen McCann

Kassian Horvat Shinkaruk

Cassels Gaunce Fox

especially with McCann as a decent playmaker why would you move him beside Virtanen

it's fine the way it is. McCann and Horvat would eventually become 2a and 2b centermans. just like Krejci and Bergeron. It'll be fine.. as i go side track on this topic ...

we need to start adding some decent dmens through the draft in maybe the earlier rounds

That's pretty accurate. Horvat was compared to Bergeron and McCann was compared to Krejci at the draft. We don't necessarily need a legitimate 1C, as long as we have 2 good top 6 centers that can get the job done.

No. His style of play is better suited to the wing, and we already have more then enough centers in the system. Please leave our winger prospects alone, they're too few as is already...

Instead of Krejci and Bergeron, maybe Toews and Bergeron :)

One can dream...

He plays a North-South style of game and is a better finisher than a playmaker. He's a born winger (and a good one). McCann is a center anyway.

True

Don't think either is top line material yet. Maybe but think 2nd is their Destiny

Kassian would be a MUCH better center. He has the vision and the size to dominate in the offensive zone, just hook him up with some two way wingers to pick up the slack in the defensive end.

Virtanen is a nono, see Kesler post-2011 for your answer to that.
