[Report] Subban seeking $8.5 M in arbitration, Habs offer $5.25 M

Recommended Posts

So, Gardiner is worth $4.05 million and the Habs are offering $1.2 million more for a guy who already has won the Norris Trophy, put up 53 points in 82 games last season and just entering into his prime? If Letang is worth $7.25 million, then Subban is definitely worth in the $7.5-8.5 million range.

Habs playing a stupidly dangerous game dicking around one of the league's best defensemen.

That offer is insulting, honestly. This will definitely sit in the back of P.K.'s mind when he goes to arbitration and when he decides to sign (or not sign) his next contract and when he inevitably goes to UFA status (at least it's looking like it will go that way).

I really don't understand Bergevin's line of reasoning. What is he trying to accomplish? Absolutely ridiculous.

I don't understand why the Habs are trying to avoid the inevitable.

Enough with the bridge contracts and low balling, he has clearly proven himself.

If Bergevin doesn't want to pay him what he wants, plenty of other teams will start lining up to do so.

Never thought I'd be saying this, but I can't believe the Habs are low-balling PK. I was surprised at the last deal PK signed, and thought that he would be rewarded with a fair offer for what he delivered on a cheap 2 year bridge contract.

IMO, this is one arbitration case that I think will go in favor of the player. One year at $8.5M...why Bergevin won't accept is beyond me. I won't speculate too much about the future, but this can't be good for building a mutually beneficial long term relationship between the two parties.

I agree.
