Hockeyforlife16
To Van -Taylor Beck To Nsh -Darren Archibald -2016 4th round pic We get a former 3rd round pic that still has plenty of potential and has put up good numbers in the AHL. They get Archibald who could be a solid 4th liner and most likely a early 3rd rounder. Tell what you think of the value, i wasn't to sure about either a 3rd round pic or a 4th. Shink
Not too familiar with Taylor Beck so value looks close. But doesn't seem like there's any point in doing this trade.
CanuckFanForever1123
I think that's a little too much to give up for Beck. He's taken a similar career path as Linden Vey thus far, but Vey is better with more potential. To me, giving up a potential solid 4th liner with a 3rd round pick is giving more than we gave to get Vey (2nd round pick to refresh our memories). I'd do Archie and a 5th, and would consider Archie with a 4th, but until he proves to be better, I don't think I would do a 3rd. But you aren't too far off IMO. heston
I say try and get Weber from them. His stock has fallen a bit since he's 28, but he has some good years in him still.

Chara didn't have his best years until after he turned 30. Nashville's management also stated many times they are building their team around him. Not to mention, no one here will like what it costs to get him (nor should we attempt it).

Yes...because his stock falls after scoring 23 goals and being a Norris finalist...

As far as what it would take, only Benning would really have a grasp on that. Speculation from CDC posters is a fruitless place to start.

They're not trading arguably the best defender in the league because he's on a crappy team that can't make the playoffs. Besides, they were 3 points out of the playoffs last year and Rinne was injured most of the year. I'm sure if they had Rinne they could of gotten 2 more wins, so I'd hardly say Nashville is preparing to blow it all up.

I'm talking about Weber himself. I am asking how long he intends to stay with a team that has a difficult time making the postseason with any regularity. Canucks fans know all too well what happens when a player tires of a team's lack of success. Try to read the whole comment thoroughly before commenting. PhillipBlunt
So they don't have to trade him especially after that enormous contract they had to give him.Sure. However, the Predators aren't exactly tearing up the NHL. The moves made this off season are interesting but won't have much of an impact. Roy is as flaky and streaky a player as there is in the league. Riberio is talented but again is streaky, inconsistent, and a headcase. Neal is the best acquisition but is unproven outside of Pittsburgh. I can see Shea Weber asking for a trade out of Nashville within two years, if they don't make serious improvements and at least clear the second round of the playoffs. He wants to win the cup and the chances of it ever happening in Nashville are very slim. Like gossamer thread slim. Poile didn't sign the NTC and NMC for a reason. And let's not forget that they had to go to arbitration the year before the big contract.

The Preds can say "Sorry Shea but the possibility of trading you became next to 0 when you decided to sign a contract with Philly that paid out massive bonuses. So now we have invested too much money into you to not reap the rewards when your contract becomes cheaper. But you knew you were going to risk spending your entire career in Nashville when you signed that offer sheet. So too bad so sad, looks like you are stuck in Nashville." Plum
If Weber wants to leave because Nashville isn't good enough, that will push Poile to make moves to make his team competitive not trading Weber. Poile won't trade Weber he will just trade whatever he can to make Weber stay because Weber is the best defenceman in the league. As for the trade, I'd do it because Beck has top 9 upside while Archibald is a 4th liner at best. Nashville shouldn't, Beck is coming off a couple of good years and close to making the NHL. He must have known that was going to happen, especially considering that was the last huge long term contract before the lockout.
