Three years ago today we lost Rick Rypien. This is a great source for help around mental health issues http://mindcheck.ca/. Just remember, you are never alone. There is always someone that will be there to talk to you if need be and do not hesitate to reach out. Leaving yourself untreated only increases vulnerability and it's only doing yourself more harm. You deserve better than that, you can get out of if but it's up to you to speak out first so others know and can help. If you feel someone else is in trouble, take a second to simply ask them. That itself can save a life making them feel not alone and cared for as we do not know how deep some are effected.

"He didn't want people to have to take care of him. He wanted to be the one taking care of people." - Kevin Bieksa on Rick Rypien
During Rick Rypien's last season with the Regina Pats, the team was well out of playoffs. They offered to trade him to a contender, but Rypien said no. He wanted to finish his career as a Pat and he wanted to teach the young guys how to compete & stand up for themselves.

@NHLJets: It's the 3rd anniversary of Rick Rypien's passing. Remember, you're not alone, ask for help >> http://t.co/3tk0ls1OdD

@saraorlesky: 3yrs ago Rick Rypien passed away. It's worth the time to read or reread @randyturner15 's moving piece on him. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/columnists/r_turner/a-big-heart-a-troubled-mind-131379493.html

RIP Rick. Your selfless legacy will never be forgotten. :(

This is one of the very few things that will get me misty eyed every single time I watch it. It's a perfect and chilling tribute.

This post got my eyes all watery.

RIP Ryp! Your not forgotten!

Ditto to all of the sentiments of TRR, Jagermeister & Jagori.

Like the overcome Canucks'-fan near the end of this tribute video,... my eyes are spillng tears & the cuffs of my sleeves are soaked. Listening to that crowd inside of the arena that night, cheering as they saw Ryper's arms raised-up, asking for more of their approbation & love....well - I really felt his loss so much.

What I love best about this tribute video,... is that it makes it all clear that Rick Rypien was so much more to us than the fights. He was a beloved son & brother,...a mentor to the young,... a community servant,...a sensitive & compassionate human being,... a friend,...a very talented hockey player,.. and an extremely loyal teammate. He's forever a Canuck.

Missing him, today and always.
