BanTSN
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=728684 1. Horvat 2. Gaunce 3. Virtanen 4. Shink 5. Corrado 6. Jensen 7. Demko 8. Fox 9. McCann 10. Cederholm No Vey - Too old? High praise for Cederholm I would switch Shink and Jensen - They had a comment on the Canucks not having a lot of skill after Vrbata on RW - Jensen will get a look. (But what about Kassian?) Shinkaruk's growing injury history, although he's bounced back, is a concern. Gaunce and Horvat will probably see time on the Canucks. Nicklas Bo Hunter
there rankings are pretty bad IMO should be: 1) Horvat 2) Virtanen 3) Jensen 4) Shinkaruk 5) Corrado 6) Gaunce 7) Demeko 8) McCann 9) Fox 10) Subban

It's about our prospects though, right? The 30-in-30 title sounded like a preview or wrap-up, so I didn't even open up the thread.

And you inverted Fox and McCann and you put Virtanen 2nd and they put him 3rd. Tha'ts 7 out of 10 players you have in the same spot, or 1 rank difference, yet you say their ranking is pretty bad??!?!?! LOL, that make sense. ComfyMatter
To be honest, I think the NHL.com's top 10 canuck prospects list is pretty reasonable. But I would replace Cederholm with Ben Hutton. Cederholm fits just outside the top 10. Hutton and is his 16 goals is quite impressive. I would love to see Horvat, Gaunce, Jensen, and Corrado all challenge for NHL roster spots. No, not even Vey has a secure spot. I think it's pretty reasonable to have Gaunce play one more year in Utica... just to work on a few things. Shinkaruk will probably head to Utica to catch up on his missed playing time last year. And Fox needs to prove that he can tear it up with 'men'. I mean 107 points, that's impressive but hes an over-ager and he's playing with 'kids'. A really good pickup from Gillis. Other than that, our future looks pre good. I agree that Vey must be viewed as too old (at 23) to be just a prospect, and he is pretty much a lock to make the 23 man roster. If Vey was a prospect I would but him at #1 given that he led the CHL in scoring and has been a point-a-game player in the AHL for the past two seasons. I also agree that Shinkarunk is probably too high. He worries me. His injury history is a concern and the recent picture of him in the ice-bucket challenge shows that he still has the body of the boy. I cannot see him on the Canucks this year. I think McCann is too low. I would move Jensen to #4 and McCann to #6. I am surprised to see Cederholm ahead of Hutton and McEneny. But it is nice to see a list with a reasonable number of solid NHL prospects on it for the first time in quite a few years.

Obviously if it weren't for his injury, he be listen somewhere around the top 3. And people wondering and questioning his size, we have Jensen, Virtanen, Gaunce, Kassian, and Horvat(to some degree) who can all compensate for his size. KingAlex
This list iz spot on. Everyone keeps underestimating Gaunce. I think he can be a 1st line center. With size a booming shot thats in progress and a good hockey IQ, He might just able to be a version of Getzlaf.

Gaunce is not gonna be like Getzlaf. Horvat's already better. I like Gaunce, but don't see him becoming anything close to Getzlaf.
nuck nit
Tryamkin is a top ten prospect. He is effectively playing with men in a very competitive league, already.

For example, the list thinks both Horvat and Gaunce will step in this season so they have them at 1-2, whereas Corrado and Jensen they think could possibly step in so they drop below higher skilled players. KingAlex
Gaunce, Cederholm and Fox are too high IMO. Gaunce is someone who is NHL ready, Cederholm is big and strong, and Fox has lots of skill.(64 goals or something like that) What the hell do you look for in a prospect? One of them iz got to satisfy you.
Gstank29
IDk why Hutton isn't on that list he seems to be the "forgotten prospect"
terrible.dee
McCann that low? A guy with his skill set is more likely to land a full time gig in the NHL than most of our other prospects. Nearly all our other top prospects have question marks (e.g Horvat/skating, Shinkaruk/injuries Gaunce/Speed ect.) McCann has a pretty well rounded skill set and no obvious weaknesses holding him back. Not saying he'll be a top 6 but it's hard to see him not getting to the NHL full time in some role. canucklehead44
I am alright with this list other than Cederholm. I would put Hutton as high as five and move everybody down. As for Gaunce - look at Andrew Ladd and Ryan Getzlaf's junior numbers their final season. I think his game will translate well.
JohnScott
1. Horvat 2. Virtanen 3. Jensen 4. Shinkaruk 5. Gaunce 6. McCann 7. Corrado 8. Demko 9. Cassels anyone? 10. Hutton/Tryamkin IMO Cassels should definitely beat out Fox for that 9th, although all of these lists seem to disagree (no Cassels to be found).
