Provost
We seem to have plenty of forwards and young guys that need time in camp to show if they have the right stuff. The only spot I see being open is if we don't think Kassian can be a top 6 forward and Jensen isn't ready to step up. On defence we could use depth still as you would want Corrado playing tons of minutes down on the farm and being available as an injury call up rather than slotting him into the lineup on opening day. Stanton and Weberprobably should be the #7/8 guys and not on our 3rd pairing. If we get two injuries to our D at the same time we will be pretty hurting. Do we have room to bring in any veterans on a PTO in your opinion? Here are some guys left Forwards: Loktionov - No need for him for sure Ryan Malone - We already have too many 3rd and 4th line guys... so no Ville Leino - Not impossible, but unless you think Kassian isn't ready for top 6 we don't have a spot. Is one of the only leftover guys who could "possibly" handle top 6 minutes so could be worth seeing if he has chemistry with our existing guys. Dustin Penner - Meh, you want guys in the bottom of your roster with a ton of compete level. Never liked that this guy is lacking that. Defence: Douglas Murray - toughness = good, but younger faster and RD is what we need Sami Salo - No brainer if the guy wants to retire back here for a cheap contract... probably will get more money and a chance elsewhere. I could see Linden giving him an invite even just to showcase his stuff if he doesn't land somewhere else. Jamie McBain - Not impossible... but no idea why this guy hasn't gotten a job yet somewhere. What don't I know? NHL level defencemen are always needed and lots of teams have much worse plugs at their 6/7 guy. Henrik Tallinder - in a heartbeat if the guy wants to sign for $1 million to restart his career. Derrick Morris - At the right price, a depth RD is really the only place that is a glaring hole on our roster with a need to upgrade

Master Mind
I'd love for Salo to get one. Even if he doesn't sign with us, that's fine, since I want to see him play at least one more NHL season. For the rest, McBain and Morris would be decent options, but none are really that enticing. We have plenty of players competing for spots already.
Tom Sestito
I wouldn't mind bringing in Derrick Morris
Langdon Algur
Malone, Salo and McBain all sound like great PTO options. McBain would be useful on teh powerplay. If Willie and Benning want to role 4 lines that can hit and score, Malone is a good addition. Salo for sentimental reasons mostly but he would also be a good depth guy and I like the irony of him being an injury fill-in player.
King Heffy
If Salo is willing to accept a limited role, I'd love to see Balls of Steel back on our blueline.
JeremyCuddles
I'd take Salo if possible. Always a sucker for reunion tours.
Herberts Vasiljevs
I wouldn't mind bringing in Derrick Morris Agreed. He plays a rugged game and isn't entirely washed up yet. Morris is a solid defender.
Gross-Misconduct
If Salo is willing to accept a limited role, I'd love to see Balls of Steel back on our blueline. I think he would. I think Sami's smarts along with his physical skills have got him this far despite some bad injuries. I'm sure he's smart enough too know that with his career coming to an end, a limited role is what he can expect. Plus, I'd love to see that cannon score from the point on the PP like the good old days one more time.
TrueFan22339
id love to see Sami Salo as our 6th dman if he is willing to sign for 1 mil, or if we want a more rugged option i think Morris still has a year or 2 in the tank! as for those of you saying Ryan Malone is a good idea, FUCK THAT NOISE, lol he would be a problem both on the ice and in the dressing room, i dont want any coke-head potentially getting our young players into that sort of lifestyle! (but hey thats just me)
Pears
Definetly wouldn't mind McBain or bringing Sami back. Morris wouldn't be bad either.
William_Clarkson
Meh. Have at least 12 NHL forwards as it is. Rather give the 6th defense spot to a younger guy.

Anyways, I would love to see him retire a canuck. Always has been one of my favourite Canuck defenders and would surely help in the hole of our RH PMD defenceman. oldnews
I personally think the only need at present is perhaps another veteran blueliner for depth and experience. I have absolutely no problem with Stanton being in the top 6 - I think he showed definitively last year that he is capable and deserves another shot - if anything, imo he's better than the average bottom pairing defenseman already. Weber won't be in the top six barring a few injuries, but again, I think he acquitted himself better in his own end of the ice last season than most of us expected, and has some quality upside on the offensive side of the puck. The thing that surprised me most about him was how aggressive he was deep in his own zone despite his size. Aside from that though, I agree that inviting another guy to a PTO is a good idea with no risk. Salo I'd simply sign without question - no need to tryout - just show up please. We know what he (still) has to offer. Agree regarding McBain - what is it that leaves him without even a tryout? Who knows, but a good option with no risk involved. Murray I wouldn't touch, at all, but the other defensemen named are all good targets as far as I'm concerned - Tallinder and Morris could be nice depth options. Wheels22
Maybe if we had Salo on the 3rd pairing/power play and in the locker room, he could get the D-men to smarten' up (especially Edler and Bieksa)
Smiley2051
I have no idea what this guy"s situation is as of now but Joni Pitkanen remains officially unsigned. Teams fear the injury?
bigbadcanucks
Probably an unpopular choice since he was cut adrift by Edmonton and prior to that he was a bottom pairing guy for the Leafs, but me, I'd like to see a guy like Mark Fraser brought in on a PTO. We need a heavyweight d-man who can be tough on opposing forwards who venture in front of our goalies. Fraser has decent mobility and has a serious mean streak that we can use. I have this bad feeling that Miller and Lack are going to get run over a lot this season. As a collective group, I just don't see Stanton, Bieksa, Sbisa, Edler, Hamhuis and Tanev being nasty enough to be playing against the heavy forwards in the Western Conference. Would love to see JB acquire one of Adam McQuaid, Matt Carkner or John Erskine. Big guys who can play in the bottom pairing that are mean and tough as nails. We could use one of these guys. zombieksa
Salo. Let Corrado and Sanguinetti compete with him for that 4th RHD. If he plays like we know he can I think he can steal the spot, we can altrenate Weber/Salo and Sbisa/Stanton by whoever is playing well.
BanTSN
No point. We have enough young players ready to make a splash of some kind.
