[Discussion] Johansen to Vancouver

Second try with tag.......imagine that!

Johansen and 2015 2nd

for

Bonino, Horvat, Edler and 2016 1st

This does not give away our franchise. What it allows us to do is focus on dman and right wing. It is alot easier to pick up a good UFA 2nd liner, than trying to make a 2nd line draft pick into a 1st line player or #1 Dman.

Maybe you start with Bonino, Horvat and Edler........

but be prepared to throw the 1st in there .....if they say no to the first offer

They will bite!

HORRIBLE deal for us. For Johansen it should be something like Horvat+Jensen+1st. Giving up a player we just acquired and a top 4 defenceman is just not worth it.

Pears, we have used 3-1st rounders trying to pick a first line Center, and to my account still have not got one, they are rare and cost alot........we would be ahead of where we are now in a year or 2.........yes it is alot!

I wouldn't give up all that for Johansen. Yes he had a good season but prior to last season, he only hasd 33 points in 107 games. Even last year, it's not like he averaged a point a game. 63 points in 82 games is good not great. Yes he's young and has potential but people on CDC are acting like he's the next best thing. Think of the Tyler Seguin trade and what Dallas gave up for him. It was nowhere close to what you're suggesting and Seguin IMO is a better, more skilled player.

I would try to offer something similar to what Dallas gave up for Seguin. They didn't give any of their best prospects.

Vey = Reilly Smith
Corrado = Joe Morrow

Something involving these guys. Maybe throw in Gaunce and a 2016 3rd?

Good point Bure....maybe I am a little quick on the trigger, but his corsi scores are pretty darn good, as well as his faceoff %......you could be right in your analisis, but in a couple of years I think he will be top 10 type of center.....if I am right, that will be hard to find.

But good points.....lets just keep this going and maybe we will see a offer that actually works, but everyone has to contribute positively to see where it goes....

Thanks for the imput

Um..

no. I don't like the trade. I mean, it might be enough to get us Johansen. But, it wouldn't make sense to trade away a player we just acquired who hasn't even played one game for us.

And I also assume other teams would have better offers than this :P

I am not so worried about trading a player we just got, I wonder about your last statement.........what teams would offer more and why, if you don't agree with the trade? Not trying to be a shtt......just wondering about your thought process

The thing I hate most about the trade proposals around here is that people just don't think. First of all, Johansen is going to be a star. But that is a ridiculous amount to trade for him. I might send that package for about 8-10 players in the NHL at most, and he doesn't come close to that list. Second thing is, yes, Johansen >Bones. Johansen > Horvat. Cool. But were trading a 2nd line center and a future potential 2C likely, along with a top 4 dman and a 1st round pick, which who knows where that pick ends up, to get a 2C who has a chance, not a guarantee, to be a 1C one day. That value is disgusting. Also, who replaces Edler? Were not stacked with elite d-men. If you trade our 1st rounder and Edler, we don't even have a chance to replace him in this draft. You must have very big expectations for guys like Corrado to make a trade like this.

We don't know exactly what Jarmo wants, if it came down to a trade, but I'm 90% sure that they wouldn't want any of our prospects. They're in a win now mentality. Them losing their best player for a bunch of prospects, does nothing for them.

Start with Kassian, and go on from there.

My proposal would be Kassian, Hansen, Corrado, and a 2nd for Johansen.

I say this yet again.

Ryan Johansen is pricing himself out of Columbus. For whatever reason he is making it appear as though he doesn't want to be there. He wants a contract towards his UFA year or short term large money deals leading towards his UFA year. Almost every GM in the league can see this as a player who doesn't want to be in Columbus.

As such he does NOT have that much value.

Youre offering a top 10 pick in a deep draft in Horvat, a 2nd line (still not sold on that) in Bonino a top 2-4 pairing D man (in the east a top 2) AND possibly a 1st round pick in one of the deeper drafts we've had in the last decade.

Are you frigging foolish?

Did Kesler get that much? Nope. Staal? Nope. Turris? Nope. Neidereitter? Nope

What do they all have in common you ask? They were all solid players worth a damned site more than what they garnered in a trade because they wanted out.

RJ has nowhere near that value for that obvious reason. Don't try to sell me a VW at a Porsche price.

Horvat 1st in 2016 and either Higgins or Hansen or a 2nd in 2016. RJ has about that value period. A solid player or 2nd round pick a blue chip prospect and a 1st round pick.

That's it really. 1 good year on a player who is either greedy as all hell and there fore a locker room issue or a player who for whatever reason wants the hell out of CBJ.

That is not worth a frigging franchise in return.

I get where you are coming from Hippy, but with both Kane and Johansen, they are both one of the best players on thier respective teams. No GM is going to trade what they are worth. If they move them, someone will have to overpay. Evander Kane especially because he's Winnipeg's only huge trading piece. That's another part of the reason I don't see either of them moving, unless a GM is desperate and overpays.

see that's the thing. Of all the players I mentioned all were top 3 players on their teams at the time. All got far less return than was possible.

The biggest difference is that Neidereitter is the only one that stated he wanted out while Kesler was the oldest and most established.

Regardless of the value they have to their teams other GMs in the league will see that these guys are ongoing issues. Issues like that affect locker rooms affect on ice product.

The value of RJ is not that high with this knowledge, Kane even less as he's just a winger.

I surely wouldn't hand over my franchise for either player after 1 decent year and would hang up if asked to.
