Now that it looks pretty clear the top six is gonna be :

D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Vrbata

Burrows-Bonino-Kassian

Im going with :

Higgins-Horvat-Vey ( I really do believe Bo will make it.)

Matthais-Richardson-Dorsett

Top offensive forward pairing: Sedins: 16 es mins/g, Henrik & Daniel 1 sh mins/g, both 3 pp mins/g. Fair, but need more PK from Henrik.
Top checking pairing: Higgins & Hansen. 14 es mins/g, both 2 sh mins/g, both 1 pp mins/g. Need a center here instead of two wingers.
Secondary offense pairing: Bonino & Vrbata. Vrbata 14 es mins/g, 2 pp mins/g Bonino 12 es mins/g 2 pp mins/g 1 pk mins/g. Bonino is going to be stretched in this role.
Third player on top line: Burrows. 13 es mins/g, 2 pk mins/g. Fine as long as the old scoring touch is found again.
Third player on top checking line: Matthias 12 es mins/g, 2 pk mins/g. Might be a stretch for Shawn. But he'll have to thrive.
Third player on secondary offense line: Jensen 11 es mins/g, able to fill in for pp when needed. Or Kassian. It will be a battle.
Secondary checking pairing: Richardson & Dorsett 10 es mins/g ea. Richardson 2 sh mins/g. Dorsett is a stretch to put on special teams. Not horrible, as long as Richardson is a 4th line option all season long, but he'll likely swap duties with Matthias.
Third player on secondary checking line: Vey and whoever's losing the Kassian/Jensen battle 8 mins/g. Could be worse.
Sedin-Sedin-Vrbata/Burrows
Burrows-Bonino-Kassian/Vrbata
Higgins-Matthias/Richardson-Hansen
Dorsett-Richardson/Matthias-Vey/Kassian
Last year we started with:
Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Kesler-Hansen
Booth-Richardson-Santorelli
Weise/Sestito-Dalpe-Kassian
Ultimately, our season rests in the hands of the Sedins.

Barring injury I see Horvat up for a few games only and the regular season lines to be as follows:

Sedin-Sedin-Vrbata

Burrows-Bonino-Kassian

Higgins-Vey-Hansen

Matthias-Richardson-Dorsett

I think in the pre-season we are going to see Vey and Horvat switch around centering that 3rd line. Unless Horvat just blows him out of the water, he gets sent down simply because he can be.

There is almost a certainty of having at least one of the forwards injured in the pre-season so it could give a chance for them both to be in the lineup at the start.

It could be a very solid lineup - or it could be very subpar. Last year's underperformances by so many leaves a lot of doubt.

Was it Torts? Or is the core declining significantly. If it's the former, then this team is in good shape. If not, it's going to be a rough couple of years.

Higgins / Mathias / Burrows

Dorsett/ Richardson / Hansen

Danny / Hank / Vrbata

Jensen / Bonino / Kassian Inexperienced, but speed, size and scoring talent. A handful that can be sheltered.

Higgins / Mathias / Burrows

Dorsett / Richardson / Hansen Bottom two lines handle defensive match ups 4 deep, plus score. Vey waits...

Vey / Sestito

Hamhuis / Bieksa

Edler / Pick Up (I'm calling Rundblad)

Sbisa / Tanev

Stanton

U don't have faith in Stanton do u?

Sbisa is a bigger, faster and more talented player on the LHS. Look, Sbisa with injuries has had issues, not not been steady the last few years. Which is Stanton's signature. Neither Stanton nor Sbisa is knocking Edler or Hamhuis out of the line up. So if there is a chance for Stanton to win a spot, Sbisa is the guy he has to knock out! I could see that happening?

Tanev and Bieksa are equally locks on the right side. Weber is currently our 3rd pairing RHD. Weber has a big shot, but is otherwise ordinary and undersized. Stanton can also win some minutes there in a pinch.

But Stanton is not a natural on the right and does not play as well. Hence me adding the suggestion of adding a different right hand guy in Rundblad. Who also has many of the PMD skills our team craves. Even without that, Corrado is a faster more talented guy than Stanton. Just more raw. And a natural RHD. So if Weber is not the 3rd pairing guy, Corrado is probably next in line there save some waiver eligibility complications.

So Stanton is just the depth guy? He'll probably be here long after Weber. Plays a steady game, even subs in, while more talented guys like Sbisa or Corrado (Rundblad) figure it out. Its what Ryan Stanton's talent is suited for.

I'm ok with that!

LOL Vey waits. Guy was 40 point pace on the 3rd line and you wanna bench him for Jensen.

Full lineup to start off the year.

Sedin-Sedin-Vrbata (Big line need to produce because on paper should work very well)

Matthias-Bonino-Kassian (Chemistry from last year down the stretch between Kassian and Matthias with two big power forwards on the wings for playmaker in the middle Bonino to complement the all skill top line)

Higgins-Richardson-Burrows (Veteran checking line to put out against other team's best line)

Hansen-Vey-Dorsett (Hansen playing off wing will give him opportunities to cut in to the middle of the ice and use his wrist shot on occasion)

Sestito as an extra.

D

Edler-Tanev (The two quiet guys) Hopefully Tanev will calm Edler down this year as opposed to playing with lumberjack Garrison and Bieksa who is all over the place. Offensive pair to play with Sedins and Vrbata.

Hamhuis-Bieksa (Hamhuis calms Bieksa down and they act as the shutdown pair)

Sbisa-Weber (Swiss national team connection) Could be serviceable third pair. Sbisa more stay-at-home physical guy and Weber puck mover with the big shot on pp.

Stanton-Sanguinetti

I see you have Matthias ahead of Higgins Hansen and Burrows. Interesting on so many levels.

As much as I like Bo Horvat and want him on Canucks lineup I don't see much of a space for him. Only way for him to get significant time is to overplay both Vey and Richardson, not speaking of Mathias. Ideal place for secure season for Bo would be between two defensivly responsible forwards in Higgins and Hansen, the 3H Line lol. Or centering 4th line between Richardson/Mathias and Dorsett. Seems unlikly though.

ver 1:

D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Vrbata

Burrows - Bonino - Kassian

Higgins - Horvat - Hansen

Mathias - Richardson - Dorsett

ver 2, more realistic:

D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Vrbata

Burrows - Bonino - Kassian

Higgins - Vey - Hansen

Mathias - Horvat - Dorsett.

ver 3, the most realistic:

D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Vrbata

Burrows - Bonino - Kassian

Higgins - Vey - Hansen

Mathias - Richardson- Dorsett

No way I see Hansen in the 4th line and Vey will not center 4th line either.

I'll be surprised if it isn't this:

Higgins - Vey - Hansen - quick, forechecking 3rd line that can score as well. Hansen will be better this year.

Matthias - Richardson - Dorsett - very good 4th line

I think the Canucks can finally go back to rolling 4 lines again like they did back in 2011. I don't think it will be of the same quality obviously, but there is always hope.

Horvat will have to be lights out, and I really emphasize that, to make the team. There are older players with pro experience that are just as good or better than him in his position, already in the organization. No reason to rush him into that, give him another year in London, the Hunters know how to develop NHL players.

If Horvat plays well enough to be on the team, I don't see Vey getting bumped out. In that case Richardson gets traded/waived.

So either:

Higgins-Vey-Hansen

Matthias-Richardson-Dorsett

or:

Higgins-Vey-Hansen

Matthias-Horvat-Dorsett/

Vey and Horvat being interchangeable depending on who plays well with particular linemates. You could have a 20 goal scorer on each line with this depth... maybe that will make up for lacking on defence and lacking a little in top end talent.
