Jordan Belfort
I've decided I want to try making sigs but to be honest I don't really know where to start. I was hoping that I could get some suggestions or tips for beginners. I also have some questions that I'm unsure about. The things I'm really hoping to have answered are: - The programs you use, why you use them, and the pros and cons of using them - Where you get your pictures from/ where in your opinion do you usually find the best quality pictures Anyways, any input is appreciated. Thanks guys.
KingAlex
- The programs you use, why you use them, and the pros and cons of using them - Where you get your pictures from/ where in your opinion do you usually find the best quality pictures Since that's what you're looking for, I can be of assistance.Programs : The two main programs are Gimp and Photoshop. Photoshop is a bit better than Gimp, however you have to pay or torrent. Gimp is free, but a slight downgrade. What I use: Gimp(I'm still a beginner so don't judge gimp based on what i can make.) There are a lot of online programs you can use to tune your pic, however I only know 2 off the top of my head cause those are what I use often.iPiccy.com is one I use for tuning up the looks of the sig. Altough you can do this on Gimp and Photoshop I prefer iPiccy.com cause of the easy navigation and design. The other one I use is Lunapic.com. There are a lot of thigs you can do with Lunapic, however I use it only for the Text. The text feauture is probably the best online. You can choose from several fonts, colors, borders, you can even download fonts from other site and easily upload it, if the font isn't already there.Pictures: Renders can be found in a lot of places, or you can make your own. What is a render? It's the player you see.(Can be anything, using player as example) It's a render because it doesn't interfere with the background. Renders are usually transparent. Places to get Renders.....http://www.sportzin.com/cutgallery/cutgallery.php?cat=40 Or you can google who or what you're looking for , go to images and choose color as transparent. This way, you get all the renders on the internet google can find of your player or thing. And the background/stock/texture/whatever else you want to use, is up to you. Hope this helped. GoaltenderInterference
I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 (yes, the one from 2002). For a beginner, GIMP should suffice.Pictures are from combing through Google images, or whatever I have on my hard drive. I usually do my own renders.DaFont.com is a great place to find new fonts. -Vintage Canuck-
It's been five years since I first started making sigs. At first, it was really difficult as I was using the GIMP program to create sigs which I personally didn't like. But then, I got Photoshop and really liked it. I would really recommend it, but unfortunately you have to pay for the program. As a beginner, you don't have to worry how your sig turns out, just try getting comfortable with all the filters and settings and just play around with it. To answer your main questions, I use Photoshop CS5 which I have been using for a couple of years now, before it was CS4. I usually get my images from Google, of course. But I do find a lot of quality images on Zimbio. Since you're a beginner, I would try looking at past tutorials on here or just search them on Google. PSD's also help then you know step-by-step, how to add different lighting, text etc.
