Your ugly ice hockey fight of the night comes from the AHL, where Trevor Gillies of the Adirondack Flames grabbed Rochester forward William Carrier's head and bashed it into the ice.

You might remember Gillies from his lackluster and violent time in the NHL, during which his goonery left multiple players out of action for extended periods of time. Carrier seems OK from the video, but that can't be good for the brain.

At about 10 seconds in.

Didn't even fight back just took it.

That's something that really annoys me, sure Gillies is a goon and shouldn't have done that but just because the refs break up every fight and every little after the play stuff but atleast stand up for yourself and throw a punch back.

William Carrier just wanted to get beat up and if he's going to play expecting to not get pushed and punched then he is playing in the wrong league.

Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still, it's not the no brain goons fault, its the owners willing to pay money to have clowns like this on their teams that are to blame.

It's like bringing a retarded pitbull to a dog park . You know it's gonna go after something.

What a great analogy by me : :D

But in all seriousness who in the right mind would watch an AHL game?

So injuring a good prospect is ok?

He doesn't seem injured first of all.

Second, my point is he stood there and just took it, like how Daniel took punches from Marchand. He could have fought back, pushed back and maybe not have been rag dolled. He got jumped, it happens with goons but the ref doesn't save you all the time. He got beat up like a child and stood there and took it.

Gillies doesn't get it. Respectable guys like Iginla get it. When a fight has been won, you leave it be. Your battle has been won and there's no point in pursuing it any further. All it does it make you look like a d-bag. *See Shawn Thornton for a great example.

Feel free to jump in against Gillies and show Carrier how it should be done.

The Touch-and-Fight league?
