I wonder if the nhl revamped thier draft, if it would improve the bottom teams quicker, and at the same time even out the talent a little more. What do you think.....and here are your choices

#1. Keep the draft the same, draft 17 year olds and older. This is a slow way to rebuild and takes some luck if your are not in the top 5. It can be done but again the cream is at the top, cream as in elite. Game breakers, franchise players.

#2 Move the draft age to 18, so that the talent is more refined and easier to see.

#3. Allow 16 and 17 year olds to be drafted each year, this would allow teams to have a much wider range of picks, and therefore a better chance of picking an elite player.......although picking 16 year olds are riskier. ( You may want to limit it to the bottom 10 teams or just first round)

* Also limit drafted NCAA players to only signing with thier draft team in their first year of eligability, so if they don't want to sign with the team that drafted them, it costs them a year to get away from their draft team.

Why are you always trying to re-invent the wheel?

Well actually, the wheel has been re-invented many times to suit many purposes, sometimes they haven't even been completely round, which only goes to show you that if you get stuck on only one way, you may not advance civilization, nor a company, nor a league, nor a team.........not to mention, understanding how your girlfriend, wife or boyfriend thinks.

Nah, just sick and bored! Peace!

Moving the draft age down won't improve teams faster. The opposite will occur. I'm not for reducing the draft age.

Moving the age a year older will make drafting science look more accurate. But the few, say Sean Monahan, that are capable of playing are lost on the league to enjoy. To market. To develop. For an extra year...

The ones that are ready, remember Gretzky bolting to the WHA, are going to go to Europe or other competitive leagues to make the money that is available to them.

I guess you can see where I am going with this conversation?

I get it, and it's a good point. What about exceptional status for those generational players?

I think in the past, alot of people have thought that 18 years would be a better age. But on the other hand, how can one say that the last place team needs to pick first anymore than say the 6th from the bottom team, or even 9th or 10th. I tjhink that is what the NHL is trying to get away from now. I am not sure what the answer is, just pondering the question.

Then again, wouldn't it be interesting if the 2-16 year olds Day and Chickrun? (I know the spellings wrong) were added to this years draft as exceptional players?

Hmm? Having 4 elite players to share would kinda stop the Buffalo's, Edmonton's, Florida's from their yearly collection of elite players a little, and move better players down the draft a little further(aka Carolina). ( in most cases anyways)

The order of the draft reverses every round. So the team that got the 1st overall pick wouldn't pick again until pick #60, while the stanley cup champs would pick 30th and 31st.

Yeah, don't like that one, as the worst team gets weaker, the middle of the pack stays the same, and the best teams get stronger....don't like that one

The worst team still gets to pick 1st overall. It's just the 30th team picks last in first round and first in the second round and the worst team picks last in the 2nd round, and first in the third round, and so on.

Respectfuly, I got that, but here is what it looks like if I am right

Regular Draft Last Place Team

1st overall, 31st overall, 61st overall, 91st overall,121st overall

Snake Draft Last Place Team

1st overall, 60th overall, 61st overall, 120th overall,121st overall

I don't see how that strengthens the weak team 29 picks later in both the 2nd, 4th and 6th rounds, etc. If I understand it right.
