DownUndaCanuck
Minnesota's defence is currently stacked with young kids who are playing well under a great structured system over there, and sadly their bunch of first round picks are never going to get a whole lot of minutes while Suter is eating up 30 minutes a game. Their top-4 is all but set, leaving Matt Dumba on the outside looking in and with a lot of development needed in his game yet. Dumba is still in his early twenties, is a puck mover from the WHL and most importantly a right handed shot - something the Canucks desperately need in their prospect pool and future team. Subban is impressing so far in the OHL scoring at around a point per game but he can't be our only offensive defenceman in the future, with the likes of Stanton, Sbisa and Tanev not really producing much offence. Minnesota want to win now, and their bottom-6 is pretty weak. They could definately use some depth scorers, especially around the trade deadline. TO VAN: Matt Dumba TO MIN: Chris Higgins, Weber and a 2nd round pick (or Higgins and a 1st) Essentially we're drafting a superb puck mover who is a few years ahead of where an 18 year old kid would be. Once Hamhuis and Bieksa move on, here's our defence: Edler - Tanev Stanton - Dumba Sbisa - Subban Corrado Great split of offensive and defensive, right and left handed D-men across the pairings. qwijibo
Dumba is their best prospect by a longshot. Would you trade Virtanen for a 31 year old 3rd line winger (which he would be in Min) a career 6/7 defenceman and a 2nd?
2SKATES1STICK
lol why not just send them tostito and a 5th instead. Make it for Suter while you're at it.
Devoted
Decent idea, but the value probably isn't quite there. I think Minny has some more time and patience instilled in Dumba. There is potential that Adam Larsson or Brandon Gormley could be had for a modest return if the Canucks were seeking an upgrade on defence prospects. Mid-level prospect + pick? I would say 90% of the proposals have us receiving top end players and prospects for scraps, 40 point players in their thirties or spare parts. The actual proposals that are fair in value get slammed by most posters. It's a funny forum for sure.
