capebretoncanuck93
TO BUF: Gaunce Jensen Mccann Shinkaruk 2015 1st TO VAN: A chance for mcdavid I honestly think buffalo would be nuts not to take it. But also wouldnt be suprised if they didnt and yes i know its never going to happen but this would be the least we would have to offer and theyd probably still decline it lol
Aladeen
So you're saying if Buffalo managed to get the first overall pick that we offer that? While the compensation, I feel, is more than fair in terms of building a winning team, the problem is, is that McDavid has infinitely more marketability than that package... therefore buffalo says no. McDavid has more value to teams that need marketable assets than to a team like the Canucks, who still fill over priced seats with fans drinking over priced beer, so long as they remain reasonably competitive. What if gaunce was swiched out with Horvat. Horvat Gaunce Shinkaruk Jensen and a first is more than a fair deal. But yes with other teams bidding buffalo would probably take a differt offer

Watermelons
When the Canucks don`t have a deep prospect pool people complain and complain. Now that we have a solid prospect pool people want to trade them away for one guy? That's trading 5 first round picks for a chance at McDavid. No way. Having the guys in our package is more beneficial to the Canucks imo. The 2015 draft is deep and with our first round pick (or by trading up) we could get ourselves a player who has a lot of potential. Guys like Koenecy or Barzal could possibly be within reach and I think Benning will try to trade up. They might not have as high a ceiling as McDavid but we won't have to give up all our depth for one guy. If McCann develops well I say that he could turn into a very solid no. 1 centre in the NHL. Dubas (his old GM in the OHL) said that he was too focused on defence so his scoring dropped. It's never a bad thing for a player to be too focused on defence, it just shows that he's willing to make an impact on both ends of the ice. He was ranked as having the 5th best hockey IQ in the 2014 draft and I think he's gonna have a 90+ point season this year. Shinkaruk could also turn into a no. 1 winger in the NHL. He's got speed, skill and passion for the game. Sure, he doesn't have ideal size but his passion for the game is what's going to make him into an impact player in the NHL. Once he works on his conditioning, I'm sure he will be a top six player on the Canucks. Jensen looked good last year but his main problem is inconsistency. I'm hoping that he will work on that this year in Utica. He's an injury away from a call-up and will likely be a Canuck next year. Gaunce is the only person I'd be ok with trading in this package. He's a good player and I think he's going to do great this year but he is somewhat redundant with Horvat and McCann in the mix. But I'd like to keep him for one more year to see how he does in Utica. I'd love to have McDavid too but not at that price. And I'm willing to bet that other teams will be more desperate and will outbid even that package. I actually dont follow mcdavid much, but the way people has been going on about him is like hes the next crosby. Your judment on our prospects is exactly how i think of them. I just set up this account and just lookin for peoples opinions on trades. I do think gaunce should be traded and we should get a d prospect. Package gaunce and subban for a good d prospect. Idk if Mtl has good d prospects but if they do id call PK instead of their gm and tell him heres who we want now go to your gm and tell him how much your brother will make team better lol. Ya i know a little off topic. Thanks for giving a description of your opinion instead of calling me a troll LOL. what do ppl mean by trolling anyway. I sense its bad trade offers but it dont make sense to me as this board is meant for peoples opinions

That happened TOO much last year where we'd outshoot our opponents by wide magins and still lose. We need shinkaruk and Virtanen to hurry up lol. ManUtd
The Canucks don't have a good enough prospect system to give up that many for McDavid. A team like Buffalo or Florida could probably afford to give up a bunch of decent to good pieces like this for that one superstar to put people in seats but the Canucks can't. They are not a McDavid away from contending.

VegasCanuck
Given other threads from the same op, I'd guess the latter is more likely. I'm thinking that as well!!! Which leaves us nothing left to do but say, Mike Gillis, AKA capebretoncanuck93, let us officially, welcome you to CDC proposal board! Please continue your mind numbing posts about how we can downgrade the Canucks in general! I'm sure that the other GM's who might watch this board, appreciate all your hard work at coming up with ideas for them!
CanuckFanForever1123
This is the stupidest proposal I have ever seen. 1 player doesn't win a championship. Give me all the depth of those 5 first round picks over McJesus anyday. I wouldn't even trade that for Crosby. That's just asinine to trade your franchise for one elite player. Well, for Crosby I'd probably do that. Burrows Crosby Kassian Sedin Sedin Vrbata Higgins Bonino Horvat Vey Richardson Hansen Dorsett Matthias Edler Tanev Hamhuis Bieksa Stanton Sbisa Corrado Weber Miller Lack Markstrom That seems like a pretty solid lineup, with elite offense, and great depth.
