A high school outside of Seattle, Washington was locked-down Friday following reports of possible gunshots.

Police are at Marysville-Pilchuck High School investigating a potential shooting after emergency calls were made late Friday morning local time.

According to preliminary, unconfirmed reports, as many as six people were shot at the school and the suspected gunman has died from suicide. CBS claims that at least three people have been administered to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

"The Marysville Pilchuck High School is currently in lock down due to an emergency situation,” the school said in a statement. “Police and emergency services have responded. The Marysville School District lock down procedures will remain in effect at Marysville Pilchuck until further notice from law enforcement. We will continue to forward communication in cooperation with law enforcement."

An unnamed teacher reportedly told local television network KIRO 7 that people were locked down inside of the building following what the educator described as “chaos.”

“We are locked down…first the alarm went off any everyone thought it was a fire drill,” the teacher said, “then chaos.” Parents have since been warned not to approach the school as authorities continue to make sense of the scene.

The Seattle Times wrote that phone calls concerning an alleged shooting were first made at 10:40 a.m.; an hour later, however, authorities had not yet released concrete details. Nevertheless, the Times wrote that two law enforcement sources confirmed to the paper that the suspected shooter was deceased from a “self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

Marysville-Pilchuck is a large school with roughly 2,500 students. The shooter was reportedly in the cafeteria, according from tweets sent by individuals purported to have been at the school at the time.“The gunman in the lunchroom opened fire on several students” one mother reported her child saying to local station KOMO News.

Aerial footage showed students being evacuated, with some parents reporting knowledge that their children were safe.

Edit: This is in Marysville actually, but i assume thats close to Seattle

big group of kids at a large round table, he was sitting with them and was quiet, had a blank stare, was calm, he stood up, and just started shooting. hit 3 kids who slumped over, small gun. completely calm during the shooting. crazy stuff from a kid who was in the cafeteria during the shooting.

Was just thinking yesterday that it's a bit odd I haven't heard anthing about any shootings in America in a few weeks, which is a longer time period between shootings than normal down there.

Just barely, but they squeak one in to keep on track.

If only all those other kids in the cafeteria were packing heat, this could've been prevented .... AmIRiteAmerica?

apparently a couple weeks ago he got into a fight with another kid that said a racist comment to him. but other than that he was never in trouble/who got in fights. everyone they talked to said the same thing, no warning signs, happy normal kid. then again depression has many faces and can be hidden from everyone.

I know you're trying to be funny, but you really aren't.

I know you're trying to be funny, but you're really not.

I think he was just mocking the NRA which openly said the Sandy Hook shooting would have been prevented if all the teachers also had guns. Basically the NRA's solution is always based on more people having guns to stop the bad people with guns.

He is also prob right as they will likely go through the round of arguments and nothing will happen then do it all over again at the next shooting rampage.

I'm not trying to be funny, it's reality. Wake up.

I'm for gun control, but I know that's a long ways away from happening in the states hence my, "If only all the other kids were packing," comment, because that's exactly the defense the NRA and anti-gun control Americans use. It's sad, really.

I used to feel incredibly sympathetic and at lost for words when these events used to happen, but after the mass shooting at the Connecticut school followed by no response from the government, it's hard to feel sorry for a country that won't do anything to solve the problem.
