KALAMAZOO- Tonight the Kalamazoo Wings will have several changes to their roster as they host the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 p.m. during the 11th Annual Orange Ice Game, presented Meijer and Townsquare Media. Earlier today the Vancouver Canucks reassigned defenseman Jeremie Blain to the K-Wings. Kalamazoo has also signed free-agent goaltender Peter Mannino.

Blain started the season in the AHL with the Utica Comets. A third year pro Blain spilt last season with both the K-Wings and with the Comets. The blue liner was productive with Kalamazoo posting 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists) in 24 games. Blain is a former 4th round (91 overall) selection of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Before turning pro, Blain spent four seasons in the QMJHL with the Victoriaville Tigres and the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

A couple of former Canucks training camp invitees who impressed, Nathan Longpre and Curtis Valk are on the K-Wings roster this year.

I liked Longpre a lot as I remember and Valk is signed by the Comets..but Im sure if we want him...he will be back and signed.

Ludwig Blomstrand could be a late bloomer?

Their was a lot of talk before last season about Blomstrand having Hansen type upside.

Then he showed up & was really bad, he couldn't stick in the AHL & accomplished very little in the ECHL.

He was so bad last year he didn't even get an invite to the Comets camp this year, something almost unheard of for a guy who has an NHL contract.

It's really nice to see him on the K-Wings top line & having early success. He's still only 21, 6'2" 218 lbs & has really good wheels, he just might turn into something yet.
