CanuckofSteel
No one cares about Minaj lol Feat Drake , lil wayne and chris brown lmao ! Seriously what has happened to music ? How anyone can even stand to listen to the digital diarrhea that is Minaj is beyond me. The sad part is some actually consider Minaj, Drake Lil wayne artists. They dont even sing the computer sings for them. As for the video ? Shock value still has the advertisers and record execs drooling. No one will care in 2 weeks about her or the video. Shut up hater, I don't care about Minaj because she's trash but Drake and Weezy are dope. Drake and Lil Wayne are legit artists, Drake has awesome songs and Wayne has hits for days (even though the past couple years have sucked for him). Regardless just because you don't like them doesn't mean they aren't artists. It's Carter V SZN!

Wait, which of autotune, electric drum machine, computer xylophone and 4 people collaborating on lyrics that only contain the words niggaz, haterz, and a single theme about how awesome they are for no reason at all is artistic? They keep making crap when people keep buying crap. Really not artists though. More like incredible salesmanship.

Drake writes his own lyrics a lot of the time as he was a ghost writer before and Lil Wayne's style is auto tune it's not like he's hiding it. I don't get your point at all, it's like you're saying every song that every rapper writes is the same. That's like me saying every rock song ever made is just about rebelling against something, for no reason most of the time.
GLASSJAW
I don't know why I find this funny. Minaj responds: This morning, Minaj addressed the controversy surrounding her latest lyric video on Twitter, insisting that its inspiration came from cartoons and comic books, rather than fascist propaganda. She then apologized to those who were offended, took full responsibility for the video, and set the record straight: "I'd never condone Nazism in my art," Unfortunately, the director of the video also responded saying the video is a "representation of Nazism" and, "as far as an explanation, I think its actually important to remind younger generations of atrocities that occurred in the past as a way to prevent them from happening in the future. And the most effective way of connecting with people today is through social media and pop culture. So if my work is misinterpreted because it’s not a sappy tearjerker, sorry I’m not sorry. What else is trending?" dude completely failed to offer up any meaning or reasons behind using the images he used, all the while calling it his 'art' -- then dropped a #sorrynotsorry on the world. what message or reminder was he trying to connect to a new generation? that the war happened? oic. Meanwhile, Minaj is denying the video was inspired by nazism at all and is naming the crew members of the video who are Jewish lmao

:D
Hit the mute button right quick, but in watching the soundless video, it strikes me.... its a shame the lyrics are so bad because that is a well-made video. As for the imagery and likeness to Nazi themes, well. I think anything that displays a Fascist dystopia that shows subjugation can be aligned to the Nazi regime. It's not that such was meant, but that it is the first thing a lot of minds would alike it to, certainly those in the ADL.

riffraff
I likw glassjaws posts even if a I dont always agree so I came here to check things out. This "music" hardly enters my life so personally I dont give a shit what minaj does. They say art is a reflection of society. So when REAL artists start using nazi imagery/propaganda I may start to worry. Is it offensive? Yes. Is Minaj a nazi?. Doubtful. Is her attempt at shock value a method for making up for lack of talent? Duh.

Remember in the 60s and 70s all the great musos died in their twentys from drugs an alcohol? Why doesnt that happen to the shitty ones now?
