Who have you met outside of CDC? (Discussion)

None,

It's never even crossed my mind that I might want to meet someone from CDC in person,

I've seen too many things on this board to ever want to meet a CDC'er in person,

That's not to say their aren't good people on here I'm sure there are many,

But I don't pay close attention to user names so It's difficult for me to give due credit to the ones who deserve it, and stay away from the ones who don't.

Plus I had a bad experience getting lumped in with a bunch of Canuck tour groupers at a King's game a few years back, I was so embarrassed to be associated with them (I wasn't but everyone thought I was), I won't get into the story, but I remember thinking afterwards "I bet these guys are on CDC"

I've been using the internet for nearly 20 years, a member here for probably around 10 years, so the opportunity has been there. In my single years I was more apt to meet people online, but having a family, a great job, and having the luck of encountering crazy pixel stalkers on another forum who reverse IP'd my job and contacted them trying in futility to get me fired (fortunately the VP here, who happens to also be my boss, knows me), I think that marked the end of my meeting up with people online. Before that, I was really lucky and encountered only fun times meeting people. I met a handful of buddies from an MMO game at Six Flags in California years back, when I was only 17 I flew out to Little Rock to meet some friends from a different MMO, flew to Greece to meet an ex of mine from a video game forum. Met my wife like 7 years ago in an MMO (been married only 4 years). Before encountering the pixel stalker on a forum, the last person we met online was several years ago, a mutual friend from the same MMO I met my wife in, she drove 12 hours from Minnesota to Sandusky (it was a mere 5 hours for us from Toronto), and we all went to Cedar Point together and a few other places. Right before that, had met another friend from Buffalo, and we all drove down to PA for a KMFDM concert. I've had my fair share of meeting decent people from online, so I can say I retire with a winning record.

not telling. i did watch a few live games YEARS ago with an old cdc poster here, years ago, back in 2007. i've met chiklets but we both pretend that never happened

Yes.

Another CDC'er is my neighbour but I forget what his username is. He was banned for trolling or something. All I remember is his excessive use of this emoticon:

Epic+Face+Takes+Over+April+Fools+2011.pn

after i was banned in 2008, i started using that emote, on "that blue jackets board". i even brought that emote to ucbjb, which is where the :bigblush: came from on here, because i stole all of those emotes from deviant art and had this huge library of emotes on bjb. long story short, you were prolly neighbors with someone from that board, but was once on cdc but got banned around the time, or shortly after i did

I hate that emote, I would not mind them if it was like regular emotes and was sized appropriately. And when I say hate I absolutely mean hate.

To stay on topic, no I have yet to meet someone from CDC. But seeing as I am not from Vancouver and am Hawks fan I doubt too many Canucks fans would be keen on meeting me lol.

I do love it here though, stupid fans from my fanbase just piss me off but I love to laugh at some of the people on here. There are quite a few people here who I have come to respect over the years though.

I have met a few people because of online gaming though. I used to play a popular MMO and me and another girl became really good friends because we really mastered one aspect of the game as a duo. She was about 3 years younger to me and I was around 20 at the time but it was never really weird. I really thought it was going to be. But we hung out, talked a bit and it was really cool to put a face on someone you have known for years by a username lol. We still talk but both of us quit the game a long time ago, now we just occasionally chat on fb. She did try to get me into other games but I think I have outgrown the multiplayer games, most of them just aren't that interesting as they used to be when I was younger.

Like Ambien said there are risks with meeting people, but if you have known and gotten along well with someone for years then I doubt there will be many issues when you meet them outside. Just be sure to follow some protocols when you meet someone, like meet in a public place. Tell a friend that you are going to be meeting someone that you met online. Not everyone you will meet online will be a "creep", but try to be safe none the less.

None. I'm not interesting enough to hold my own in a conversation, so I wouldn't want to subject anyone here to my lack of a personality.

what keeps us fellow friends is our love for our canucks...i've never been a great conversationalist ...but when i feel below the conversation topics, i listen to others and gain other's opinions...even if i don't agree with their point of view...we all have our own opinions...cheers friend.
