avelanch
After a string of healthy scratches stretching back to Nov. 8, defenseman Kevin Connauton has been placed on waivers by the Dallas Stars. The news came from Elliotte Friedman on Monday morning: Connauton has two assists in eight games this season and had eight points in 36 games as a rookie last year but hasn't been able to earn playing time over Jamie Oleksiak or the newly recalled John Klingberg. The move could be to get him some more playing time at the AHL level, clear space for some sort of other move or just give the Stars more flexibility with the roster over the next month if he clears. Connauton, 24, has a cap hit of $683,000 and is in the second year of a three year contract. If the plan is to send him to the Texas Stars, Dallas would need to call up another defensemen (or acquire one via other means) to carry a full roster of seven.http://www.defendingbigd.com/2014/11/17/7234857/dallas-stars-place-defenseman-kevin-connauton-on-waivers Big willie loaded heaps of praise on him in texas, i wonder if we'll make a claim and see him come back to us. it would make me feel better about the derek roy fiasco. Aladeen
I can't see him clearing or making it to us, But what do I know? I would take him.

2SKATES1STICK
He's soft and less defensively aware than any of our top 8. please no

73 Percent
drop weber.my thoughts exactly. He's played alright though. But its a business right.
timberz21
Yeah I think it will be Willie's decision utlimately. If he really thinks he has potential and can get him going we might put a claim, but with Sbisa and Stanton on the L side as bottom pairing, I doubt it. Also with Corrado waiting in Utica and Sanguenetti playing well for our Farm, I doubt there would be room on the depth chart for K-Conn in Vancouver, and we can't claim him for Utica. Warhippy
I'd be willing to pick him up. Just remember, surplus players can always be part of a package. I don't see K-Conn passing waivers though, like at all. But I do remember when he was part of the trade, the 50/50 crowd on yay for Roy as opposed to the why did we trade him was awesome to see
Dazzle
Not all WD players are picked up once they're on waivers. We've seen it last time with the other player when we played the Coyotes.
UFCanuck
Cdc freaking out over trading him for Derek Roy. Shows how badly some people overrate our prospects.
CanuckFanForever1123
Well, this has to make all you Mike Gillis haters feel like crap. I cant even put a number on how many posts I've seen after Roy sucked for us about how Gillis gave away a "gem" for a lazy bum. I would definitely love to get Conn back, but I don't think we have room for him right now. Carrying 8 dmen would be a mistake, and Weber has played too well to just get rid of him. Jägermeister
Meh. Pass. I had hopes for him even as recently as last season, but he's really struggling to show he has what it takes to defend at the NHL level. He's a downgrade on Weber at this point, and at 24 he isn't some raw prospect anymore.

Still doesn't remove the sting of losing a 2nd round draft pick.
Master Mind
If he was never a Canuck prospect, I doubt anyone here would want him. He isn't an upgrade on any of our defencemen, so I'd pass. MG probably feels a bit better seeing this though.
JeremyCuddles
He's a leftie? No thanks if so, even if he was a rightie I'd still probably pass.

Snake Doctor
If we had room on our roster, he would be worth a shot. He played well against us in Dallas.
