Miller steals start from Lack?

same excuse can be said for Miller that his stats suffer from the way the Canucks show up in front of him yes he has had some stinkers but Lack has had maybe 2 solid games

I hope you're joking. Canucks are winning even when Miller is having a mediocre game, Lack haven't had that support in even half of the games he has played this year. Sure Miller is winning, which is the most important thing, 16-4 in 20 games is very impressive. Gotta love though that people are bashing Lack's save %, when Millers save % isn't impressive either, and Lack has played fewer games. Lack's numbers basically doesn't say anything, sample is too small. Miller hasn't faced a team-blowout similar to the Avs game this year, when Lack allowed 7 goals. Funny thing is that Lack wasn't even that bad in that game. He faced nearly 50 shots and could have had perhaps 1 or 2 of the goals. The game against Dallas however, that's when you blame your goalie. Miller was complete garbage that game.

I'm not saying that Lack should be our starter or anything. Overall, Miller has been good, even though he have had a few bad games. However people are making very unfair calculations about Lack, like seriously? There's nothing wrong about being objective.

Lack was average vs Tampa, below avg against Colorado, avg vs Nashville, great in Anaheim, avg at home vs Anaheim and it's all the teams fault coz they give him no support? it's hard to ask the team to score 5 vs tampa, 8 vs colorado, 4 vs nashville. End of day is he didn't make the big save when he needed to. I'm not bashing Lack coz most of his starts are back to backs. But the avg of Lack having avg games dates back to last year when he was burnt out by Torts and he never really seemed to recovered from that.. Preseason he was great.. but that's preseason.. i'm not really basing his game on his stats... Same can be said for Millers.. he's been avg or slightly above avg so far.. but at the end of the day he makes the save to preserve the win.. ie not blowing a 3rd period lead and then losing the game.

Except he didn't really take any responsibility and came up with excuses . Kind of a douchey self entitled move though , should be up to Lack to say that he feels more comfortable with the Pits game or whatever.

That being said, it's not that big of a deal because Lack was only going to get one game this week , so it doesn't really matter which one.

The only respectable league stat that Miller can currently claim is his.... "Games Won" stat - which is amongst, if not tied for, the league's best. And - it's likely to be the only stat he'll be able to hange his 'shingle' upon this year,...at least, until the play-offs.

Mark my words - Ryan Miller's a proud player, who's still wants to re-establish himself in the "best goalie" conversation, some how,...so, yes, he's wanting these starts.

I'll take Miller at .910 save % and 16-4-0 any day of the week. I realize he isn't putting up insane goalie stats, but he's getting the job done. And making big saves at key times. I think he's done a fine job so far. He isn't Rask or Quick or whatever anymore, but he's the veteran, stable goaltender who can get over bad games that the Canucks asked for.

Much as it looks like he stole a start and possibly handed Lack the tougher game, I'm not prepared to throw Miller under the bus. He's seemed like an intelligent player with character. He doesn't make excuses for bad goals, doesn't try to hide them, acknowledges when the team has bailed him out, speaks of improvement and even on what appeared to be one goalie interference that wasn't called said in his post-game interview that the ref got it right.

As for Miller's game, he hasn't been consistent this year, ranging from outstanding to just barely good enough for the team to score enough goals to bail him out to weak. I still think he's going through an adjustment as he tries to fit Melanson's ideas into his game and that he'll be fine the last half of this season-unless he's tired from playing too much by then. WD's goalie handling has killed any chance of a goalie controversy, which is good. The downside of it is that Miller already has gone through an admitted period of fatigue in mid-November and Lack, after being spectucular in the pre-season, hasn't been able to maintain that sharpness playing only once every couple of weeks.

We won in spite of his crappy performance.

This guy is such a troll.

Miller delivered. Reminds me of luongo in his peak... Let's in a weak goal once in a while but makes huge saves and shuts the door when it matters most.

Too funny how people are saying this is just the media making stuff up. Hey OP, maybe next time you start a thread like this you should inclue a link to the audio from Desjardins media availibility this morning where he said himself that the plan was to start Lack and he went and talked to Miller and Miller said that it's probably better he starts since Lack isn't in a rhythm and team didn't skate yesterday.

I'm a Miller guy, and as it's been said, winning cures all. But a link to the audio would've sent this thread in a whole different direction. Though you can never bash on Vancouver media enough :D

to be fair, it wasn't available at the time that the original tweets made their way out.

This isn't New Jersey. Lack has shown he can play big games, let's not get in the habit of giving Miller too many games.

Miller was good enough tonight, but that second Carlson goal was pretty weak by his standards.

I can understand not playing Lack against Pittsburgh, but he better at least play Ottawa.

Most teams in the NHL use both their goaltenders.

So far this season the second half of a back to back the back-up has started the game, so what makes you think he won't start in Ottawa. I thought it was a given.

hearsay is awesome...ya lets speculate and create more distractions around the team

Isn't it just absolutely crazy???

If Luongo had told Schneider and Lack to put up and shut up a few times, maybe his reputation as the best option as well as the rest of the team might have had a different fate.

Not that I care, but if it is the case that Miller is demanding his starts, good on him. We want a guy who wants to win and knows he's the best option.

Lack can sit and learn and put up and shut up. Sure he's a great guy. Nothing against him.

But at his age and position under one of the best goaltender in the league, he stands no chance and nor should he.

It is that sense of entitlement from youth that will be the fall of our great society.

But remember kiddos, by the time you are five years old, if you do not know what you want to do for the rest of your life, you are bound for a life of misery and hardship. Especially because of your stupid parents making stupid kids to stuff food and drugs in to calm them down as their brains salivate while watching TV.

In the meantime, create a goaltender conspiracy because we all know that that is how you win a Cup.
