Patchoball Cannons
Is this guy a career AHL'er? or do we have something down there in Utica? He is 3rd on the team with 16 points, 7 of them goals and is a +13 on the season. He was a first rounder but way back in 2006. Anyone know more? Ghostsof1915
He's a lot like Jensen, seems to do well in the AHL. Then you bring him up to the NHL and he either is trying to do too much, and looks bad. I think a full season in the AHL will do wonders for both. Who-berdeau
Bobby will get his chance this year I'm sure. Unless our D can stay healthy all year.

I think leaving him in the AHL without giving him at least a look would be a big mistake. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain and if we don't at least give him a look, someone will likely take a flyer on him next year. With the way he's been playing, I'm sure at some point this season WD would like to see this kid pay first hand. Maybe some untapped potential remains to be seen... With the way Weber's been playing what do we have to lose?
canuckledraggin
I actually thought that Sanguinetti would get the call after they sent Corrado down. I guess giving Biega his first taste of the NHL is a good move and motivator for everyone in Utica, but Sang has been the Comets best defenseman and definitely will get the next call up on D. He was called up once this year but didn't play. Maybe they want to give these guys a taste of what an NHL dressing room and practice is like. I thought Jensen looked pretty good last year at the end of the season. He just seems to be lacking confidence this year every time I've seen him dressed for the Canucks. Sanguinetti was a brilliant signing but will just go somewhere else if we don't give him a look. Green says he's not just an offensive player, but has a strong defensive game, which was the knock on him earlier in his career. As it turns out, most of our injuries have been to LD this year, though, so there hasn't really been a lineup spot for him. That will probably change but if it doesn't, they still need to give him a chance. He could easily be better than Weber, even though Yannick has been playing well enough this year. Jensen sucked in the AHL until this year. Last year, his 6 points in 17 NHL games was pretty good production for someone with 21 points in 54 AHL games given the skill gap. Jensen is also 21 and has a few years left before he is considered a bust. Sanguinetti has had a bit of a weird career. He was very highly touted but came to the Rangers camp out of shape and was sent back down the minors, then traded for a 2nd round pick. Don't know why he played so little in Carolina, but became a bottom pairing guy in his final season there playing decent in a small role. Probably jumped to the KHL to make money in fear of not playing in the NHL, likely hated it, came back and now he is in our system. He is a good player. Amazing skater, solid offensive tools, decent size but hasn't really strung together any sort of solid NHL opportunity. I thought he would have been our 7th guy this season but we re-signed Weber. Maniwaki Canuck
So why haven't we given this guy a shot yet? Maybe a 4-game losing streak is the excuse we need to have a look at what he can do.
supermanbieksa
I haven't seen him play but given his stats he sjould be given a chance. He's on fire at the moment and a player with great confidence is something we lack/need at the moment.

Gaudette Celly
Considering Weber is the 7th defenceman, he and Bobby are the only two with a rushing/shooting/skating-oriented game, and both are waivers-eligible and on one-year deals, it only makes sense to get him in there to see how he compares. Only difference is Bobby can be sent back down (this year) without having to clear. If he's better, then when Hamhuis returns either try to move Weber or gamble sending him down. StarGirl
Now that he's called up...I'm really hoping to see what he has. Don't want him to be like Corrado who sat in the press box for so long and got sent back down when he didn't even play a game.

I wouldn't see putting Weber on waivers as a gamble but rather as giving him away, something the Canucks would be unlikely to do.
