I think Eddie made a statement vs the Bruins about who is #1 when Miller is out

Of every team in the playoff picture right now, Eddie Lack has the least experience, the fewest wins, etc. Name a solid playoff team right now where we would have the edge in goaltending. Maybe Dubnyk, but he's been lights out really all season, and has a lot more experience. Same with Pavelic/Hutchinson. Those are really the only 2/3 guys that Lack is comparable to quality-wise.

We have the worst goaltending of any team in the NHL currently holding down a top 3 division spot.

I see 5 games (2 x AZ, Philly, Leafs, Jets) in March where we have the edge in goaltending. That's a tough way to go .500

Because Gibson and Andersson are so much better than Lack? Those two guys have about the same numbers and experience as Lack but the benefit of playing on a better team. Also, I wouldn't even necessarily say that Jake Allen and Brian Elliot have one up on Lack.

Lack gets overly hated on because Cory Schneider supplanting Luongo is still fresh in our minds. It took Schneider 3 seasons to do that, on a team with better D men. Lack's been with us for 2 seasons.

the fact that Eddie had to pull "grand theft" against the 3rd worst team in the league just so we could get 1 point pretty much tells you all you need to know about where this team is at right now.

It tells me this team is in another funk. A few disappointing games in a row doesn't mean this team is falling off a cliff. They'll turn it around and start playing better again.

Miller who?! Lack with another great game! Feel so much more confident with lack in net over miller. Playoffs are a lock with lack as our number 1.

I would rather see Miller playing but Lack is more than capable. The hate Lack gets is ridiculous.

Another stolen game by Eddie... Miller was doing it early in the season, and Lack is doing it now.

The rest of the team... not so impressive... except Bo... who had a tough time with Thornton, but kept his head up and scored when he had to.

you mean the hate Miller gets is even more ridiculous lol. Lack is a very good goalie but consistency is an issue right now. so-so vs Devils. great vs islander and bruins.. terrible vs buffalo and st louis.. good vs arizona and great vs sharks.. hopefully he can string together a few more good outings in a row and get some breathing room for the playoff push, and if he somehow craps the bed not saying he will against anaheim.. but if he does.. then the idiots here will try to pitch fork him and run him out of town lol.

Isn't it the other way around? It seems like nobody in here appreciate Miller, even though the team wins much more often with him in the net. (I guess they're all blinded by his wages!?)

But I like Eddie, and hope he get's his chance some day. So I don't hate him just because I think that Miller is a better goalie right now. And watching the games, the team plays more relaxed in front of Miller. Perhaps that's why his win % is much better than Lacks!? Lack needs to work a little more with the rebounds.

Eddie played great tonight though, so hope he kan keep it up! :-)

The reason Miller gets a rough time is he basically performs like Lack, but for 6 times the cost. Some games he's fantastic, others he's terrible, the difference is when Miller's terrible his team bails him out with a ton of goals. Lack hasn't really gotten that luxury. Do we really want to have a 6 million dollar cap hit for a goalie of Lack's caliber? For me I'd say no and use that money to get a top 6 forward to help our scoring issues or a top 4 defenceman. 6 million can buy us a lot.

Another stolen game versus Anaheim... Canucks will have to be careful not to get complacent.

Love the way Eddie keeps grinning even when they're going to Toronto to review his save in the third... he is just having a ball.

Even when they brought him out for the #1 Star interview, and he says "I love you guys" to the audience, I believe he really means it. He is just that kind of guy. :)

This thread is yet another example of why you shouldn't make *ahem* "bold" ( ) comments about players.

Particularly with a very small sample size and/or when the team is injury riddled and playing abnormally poorly.

  • 3 weeks later...

Lack is solid, but at times in his game he just cracks and lets in a bad goal. I don't know why he does this. Hence, he is a fragile goaltender at times, but at other times he is a elite goaltender. I don't know what the Canucks' should do with Lack, but the issue is we don't know even know what we have in Markstorm. It seems after that Sanjose disaster, Markstorm has lost his coach's trust.

You don't watch a lot of other teams' games, do you?

Even the far-and-away best goalie this year, Carey Price, has had a few bad games. Let in 5 goals on three occasions, and allowed 4 numerous times. And yet, he is performing so well at his position that he is considered the favourite to win the Hart - which hasn't been awarded to a goalie in 13 years.

Every goalie lets in goals, and some of them are bad. What matters is how often that happens, and how well they keep their focus at key times. Lack is doing well, and should get even better with age/experience.
