jono2009
Fresh off winning the Beanpot tournament on Monday, Boston University goaltender Matt O'Connor has become a prime target for several NHL teams. Sources tell TSN that as of Monday, 14 NHL clubs have expressed interest in signing the 23-year-old college free agent and as many as five teams are promising NHL playing time this season if O'Connor chooses to sign at the end of his college season. Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary are all believed to be keenly interested in signing the the undrafted 6'5" goalie, while Buffalo and Phoenix are also considered to be contenders on the list of 14 as well. O'Connor has met individually with a number of teams and will continue to do so before making a final decision. O'Connor is scheduled to graduate this summer with a business degree. http://www.tsn.ca/dreger-report-teams-lining-up-for-o-connor-1.215858 Thoughts? Jagorim Jarg
Whut. Another goalie? Time to showcase Markstrom I guess.
jono2009
No garauntee we get hi, but he fills the net well. I think Lack will be moved. Not now, maybe draft?
Derp...
Just keep adding value JB. We need assurance in case Demko doesn't work out
Ghostsof1915
So Eriksson walks in the summer? The only way I see this working is if he signed and he's the starter in Utica next year.
hellosinki
I believe we shouldn't get him. We have already a mine of goalies here in Vancouver. Lack will hopefully be our starter for years to come.
TOMapleLaughs
Given our recent history of successful goaltending development, he should have no issue with coming here.
sting
Were gonna lose one goalie at least this summer. It's possible Eriksson goes back to Sweden as well. Go get him JB.
MJDDawg
Why wouldn't the Canucks have interest? He'd be another asset, plain and simple. An asset that can then be traded for other assets or that allows the team to trade other assets. Doubt he signs here when he looks at our goaltending depth. c00kies
A Boston College and Boston University goalie? That's a new way to add friendly competition.
jono2009
And we do such a great job at driving a goaltender controversy here, may as well have a backup plan!
greetingsfrombrazil
A Boston University (O'Connor) + Boston College (Demko) tandem for the future? Sounds good. The thing is O'Connor will have other offers from teams that are ready to give him some NHL games right now and have less goalies than we do. I'm not sure he will choose us, as he would be considered a prospect in the Canucks. But we're moving one of Miller, Lack and Markstrom in the draft, a spot will be open in Utica for him to develop. I would definitely support his signing.
Kaner
Could Miller and Markstrom be on the move after Lack's performance lately? Miller would certainly fetch a good return for sure.
Dogbyte
Like he's going to want to compete with Demko for a spot. Retarded. Squash stupidity now.
komodo1970
Sounds like teams are offering playing time. That should take Vancouver out. Too many ahead of him in our system who've earned a shot in my opinion.
bigbadcanucks
Hopefully JB has the inside track on O'Connor. And hopefully O'Connor saw enough of the Canucks operations and got familiar with the hockey ops team to give him a sense of comfort signing here after last summer. IMO, Eriksson will re-sign a one year deal (high AHL salary)...Canatta walks...one of Lack/Markstrom is traded...which leaves us with potentially Eriksson and O'Connor as our two goalies in Utica next season. I wonder if JB has kept tabs on Austin Lotz, the kid in the dub who played well for the Canucks at the Young Stars tourney in Penticton last summer. He'd be a good option as a no. 5 goalie to give the team added depth in the 'zoo.
canuktravella
thats insane meaning miller, ericksson are moved at draft for a first and a third. i can live with lack markstrom then oconnor and demko going forward
jono2009
Could Miller and Markstrom be on the move after Lack's performance lately? Miller would certainly fetch a good return for sure. Yes he has had a few solid games, but do we have to think of the future based on these games? Keep Miller for at least another season. If we get O'Connor great. But I think one of the backups will be moved.
missioncanucksfan
Well hopefully JB was watching Ahti Oksanen from BU Big leftShot Finn would be a huge signing
