LeanBeef
http://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/madhouse-enforcer/Former-Blackhawks-Defenseman-Brent-Sopel-Announces-Retirement-294371381.html One of my favorite Canucks defensemen from the WCE era. His two goal game against the wild made me a huge fan.

Oregon.Duck
The blueline was his enemy. Kept tripping over the darn thing. He had a few really solid seasons and a good NHL career. Good on him.
etsen3
Cheers to the guy who I thought was European for months.
brownky
The Golden Brent got his cup with Chicago. Good for him. Never forget that rising slapshot from the point.
Totes McGoats
I thought he'd already retired. I guess I was just straight trippin......... over the blue line.
hockeyville88
I believe he was one of the first players to march in the Pride Parade. I think he did it with the Stanley Cup when Chicago won their first Cup a few years ago. Props to him for that. Best of luck
-AJ-
Had a couple of great years in Vancouver. I'll never forget that flow.
Boudrias
Always thought that Tanev looked like Sopel. Sopel's point shot was actually pretty decent.
Wilbur
I thought he had already retired as well. Maybe it was his hair that retired in 2011... He seems like a pretty likeable and honest guy so he shouldn't have an issue sticking around the game of hockey if he wants to do so.
Ronalds.Kenins41
They showed the whole team we had back then, miss those days...

viking mama
And - he has subsequently bequeathed his infamous hair-style and swagger to,...Chris Tanev.
Lancaster
I believe he was one of the first players to march in the Pride Parade. I think he did it with the Stanley Cup when Chicago won their first Cup a few years ago. Props to him for that. Best of luck IIRC, it was around the same time that one of Brian Burke's son passed away. He use his day with the Stanley Cup to march in the parade as tribute to him and the struggle for equality for the LBQT community.
HC20.0
Brent was never a great defender, but man he was one heck of a PPQB when he played for us! Makes me miss the WCE era. He had a good career for a later round pick. I wish him well in his retirement.
