That is over $4M added to their Cap when they are already right up against it! And, They still have to sign Dougie Hamilton http://web.archive.org/web/20141124061404/http://capgeek.com/bruins/

Chris Kelly/Loui Eriksson gets moved and replaced full time by Spooner/Pastrnak. The NHLPA opts for the 5% salary cap increase. They aren't as bad off as you make it sound. They just need to play better, especially on the PP.
D-Money
According to NHL Numbers, Boston only has 4 D-men signed for next year. And Hamilton - the guy with the most points - isn't one of them. I really think they'll be moving Lucic, in addition to Kelly and/or Eriksson.

theminister
I fail to see how they are in trouble with the cap if the NHLPA exercises the 5% multiplier. Lucic (6.0) - Krejci (7.25) - Smith (3.425) Marchand (4.5) - Bergeron (6.5) - Pastrnak (0.925) Soderberg (2.5) - Spooner (1.0) - Connolly (1.0) Paille (1.5) - Talbot (1.25) - Campbell (1.8) Griffith (0.925) Chara (7.0) - Hamilton (5.0) Seidenberg (4.0) - Krug (3.4) McQuaid (2.5) - Miller (0.8) Bartkowski (1.5) - Morrow (0.863) Rask (7.5) Svedberg (1.0) Moved: Eriksson (4.25), Kelly (3.0) = $72.138mil - ($69.4 mil x 5% = $72.87 mil cap) * Italics indicate an assumption on re-signings That's still a pretty decent line-up. I think you are underestimating a few of the re-signings. - Soderberg has been a solid 2nd center. Tied for 3rd in team scoring with 35 points. As an impending UFA, I see him getting 3-3.5 easily...and that alone screws up the projection. - Brett Connolly had 12 goals in 50 games (20 goal pace) in limited minutes with Tampa. He's going to demand more than a marginal 150K raise. Thinking more like 1.5. ...But they could let McQuaid walk and bring up Morrow. Also, I believe Colorado retained 50% of Talbot (don't know what Sakic was thinking there). So it could still work...
theminister
I doubt Soderberg gets anything under 4 million. I suppose it depends on the length of the deal. Regardless, they could opt not to re-sign Campbell and save money there. They may also get Hamilton cheaper than I estimated on a one year deal. Also they may get some decent depth pieces for Kelly and Eriksson. The point stands though… they aren't as bad off as all that.

Soderberg may walk if they can't re-sign him but they can find a cheaper body to replace him if necessary. Connolly I have guessed that he will accept slightly more than his qualifying number. I don't think i'm that far off anyway. I was under the impression that Talbot's retention was for this season only.

I don't think Hamilton is looking for a 1 year bridge type deal anymore. That was last year. He wants to cash in now. If Boston isn't the team to do it, I bet it won't be long until someone else does.

But the moving of Lucic, Chara, Eriksson Will free up a ton of space. And rest assured I believe the writing is on the wall for at least 2 of those players. That is to much cap to sit idle with. Mackcanuck
Hamilton could easily be offer sheeted, and the Bruins would be hard pressed to match! An offer of $6.7M could kill the Bruins 1st,2nd and 3rd round pick, I could see Florida going after him

Warhippy
Is Hamilton worth 6.7 mil and a first, second and third pick though? Depends on the length of the deal really. I'd prefer to see a $6 million sheet heading their way. keeps costs down and still shafts the B's Wonder if Chiarelli will see one though Make me laugh if benning mans up and sends one over. Hamilton is trending into a solid 1-2 D man and we've seen what they're worth
