kill_the_avs2
Luongo was a one season wonder that blew all most every big game we ever had. I've been watching this team for 25 years and I'm telling you He found a way to lose big games and the team would play unconfident in front of him. I'm so glad that nightmare is over. Bobby_Lu1ngo
I think Lack gives us just as much as Miller does to be honest. Miller has his off nights and terrible goals like any goalie. Lack is consistent in giving our team a chance to win. The only difference is experience but even Miller doesn't have extensive playoff experience for a guy his age. However, he has been in big time games such as olympics. I think for the direction our team is headed we should keep Lack. If we have a chance to trade Miller to SJ at the draft for a prospect and 2nd or 3rd it would be perfect for both teams. Lack is incredible for his salary. I dont know if Markstrom is ready for back up. We might want an experienced back up at the 1.5 mill range but that saves us 4 million in cap next season. Lack has shared crease time with Luongo, Schneider (ahl), and Miller now. He has been tutored all he needs to be. Next step is taking the reigns. Its the next step in his progression. He may not be a top 10 goalie as a starter but he is good enough for what we are in this transition. This would free up space to get a top 6 winger or maybe pull a top pair PP QB type dman in a trade.
Westcoasting
You mean Tim Thomas, Hasek, etc, etc, etc. Ok other than multiple Vezina winners (Thomas has 2, Hasek has 6) who wins a cup at that age or older. This is how i should have worded my post.
grandmaster
I'd rather have Luongo over Lack/Miller but I'd take their contracts over his though. Bettman and his punitive hindsight garbage still makes me angry. He would never have done that to Boston. Vancouver ownership is weak among the NHL Board of Governers This league pisses me off at times

CanuckFan1981
Ya but we are paying Lu to play in Florida, and paying for a high end veteran Miller to ensure if Lack doesn't steal the net we have another plan, and then of course we have Lack's contract. I am not complaining about our goalies cuz I think we got out of that mess better than expected. But I think Lu's 7 million per year compared to Millers 6 + Lack's 1.15 + Eating Luong 0.8 + Markstrom... We did OK, but could be fine with Luongo too. But he did have to move, so all in all we did pretty good by filling our goalie pipeline again.

KoreanHockeyFan
I would rather take Lack, Lui is too old now. How many goaltenders win a cup at his age?

Nurf Herder
Lu's cap hit is the ONLY advantage Lack has, and will probly ever have on Luongo. This love affair of backup goalies is ridiculous, support the guy yes, but calling him better than Miller, suggesting were a better team with Lack in net instead of the best goalie this franchise has ever had.... Just wow.
King Heffy
Regular season is irrelevant at this point. After the SCF and the 3 series against Chicago, I simply don't trust Luongo in any playoff series, so I'd rather take my chances with Lack. TheCammer
Luongo > Miller, Lack, Garret, Markstorm, Dan Cloutier, Kirk Mclean. Luongo = this franchises greatest goaltender, too bad Hamuis got hurt or he would have a Skytrain station named after him lol Agreed.

Crabcakes
Is Eddy's play making a case for trading Miller? The knock we had against Eddy was his tendency to let in soft goals at the wrong time. The more he has played, this seems to have stopped. Since Miller was sidelined, I considered it to be the perfect opportunity to get a good look at both Lack and Markstrom and make a good decision on which one to keep (as a back up to Miller). And at the same time, to expose them to GM's across the league and increase their trade value. Now, Eddy is growing and starting to look like a real #1. I think it's a stretch to trade Miller but Benning will be faced with a tough decision. If he moves Markstrom, will Eddy get more starts and slowly (over 2 years) take over as #1 from Miller. Then after 2 years, we see Eddy backed up by Erickson or Demko? I can see that happening. Or, do we see Eddy moved and Markstrom back up Miller? Then in 2 years see Markstrom backed up by Erickson or Demko. Less likely because we haven't seen Markstrom at all in meaningful NHL games. This scenario is a bit of a flyer. Is Demko ready to start the year Miller retires? Very much unknown. The other thing is that Eddy may get the Canucks a 2nd pick while Markstrom at this point may net much less (4th?). I for one say keep Lack, he looks like he's figured it out. Unload Miller for a lesser goalie (Eddies backup) and a pick. Markstrom may or may not make it. I don't think Erricsson ever will, hopefully Demko is the next guy.

shazzam
Luongo has done very well in Florida. Good bounce back year after all that has gone on in Vancouver. Unfortunately, they will likely missed the playoffs.
