Are the Canucks switching jerseys?

The canucks have been plagued with ugly jersey after ugly jersey. Ugly logo after ugly logo. Ugly colour scheme after ugly colour scheme. I have the current blue and green home jersey. I would love to buy a new jersey but they havent offered any nice 3rd alternatives in a very long time. I have no interest in the current blue third, as its essentially the same as what I have no. The millionaires jerseys are god awful. The white classics they released for their 40th had potential, but they didn't even offer those for a long period of time. The green Johnny Canuck jersey had potential too, but they managed to butcher that jersey as well. I don't know who our design team is, but I think a major overhaul is needed in that department.

You make a very good point about the design department's lack of creativity & lack of visual sense.

The colour is balanced perfectly. Theres no need to be afraid of a white jersey. It's got plenty of blue to add contrast, and a little bit of green as a tertiary colour to balance things out nicely. Adding a blue shoulder yoke would just cause it to be oversaturated with blue.

Teams typically use shoulder yokes to add in a colour the rest of the look is missing (think of Montreal's away, very little red on most of the jersey) but there's enough blue and green here to make everything balance out nicely.

Not to mention the striping is unique and looks really good as it is, adding the yoke would take away from that and they'd start looking like just another team with a yoke

So which one would you rather have (please excuse my editing)?

His original concept was great, If the Canucks changed to that I'd be happy.

If I were in charge of the Canucks uniforms however, I would take the current home and away jerseys, put the modern rink as the main logo, "V" Johnny on the shoulders, and skating Johnny on the helmet and pants. I would also change the font to something a bit more classic. Then I would add a black skate third jersey. And then they should never be touched again. It would appease the vast majority of the fanbase all clamouring for different looks, and it is a good identity that would stand the test of time.

Here. Made some edits to a jersey suggestion that was on here before.

It's not done perfectly (I used an online paint tool), but I think this jersey collection could be pretty sick.

You made them worse. No shoulder yoke is necessary in the aways, and the alt was green for a reason. I'd be thrilled if the original concept was made into Vancouver's uniforms, but I'm not holding my breath.

Still, all you need is to take the current home and away striping, put the (modern) stick-in-rink on the front and throw johnny on the shoulders, helmets and pants. Extremely simple fix, and the Canucks would be catapulted to among the best looking teams in the league.

I agree with Bitter Melon regarding yokes on the whites. However, my beef is with the weak Agency font. Time to bring back the block font and add a green border.

I think bolded agency font (like on our current thirds) works really well.

Agency font can work for the Giants but not for Canada's third oldest NHL franchise. Block font is more legible and it stands out very well from far away. A green border would make the font stand out nicely.

Block font works better with black, though.

You are exactly right. Canucks need someone from outside the organization to show them what a good hockey sweater looks like. From the stick and the rink to the constipated whale (orca bay) they have no idea of what is appealling or is a CANUCK! LoL.

They are never going to please everyone.

Myself, I'd be okay with it.

Of course not, but the blue and green with the 90's skate logo would be the worst jersey in the league in my opinion, let alone the worst jersey we ever had.

I'd agree with you, except the striping on the thirds is awful. It's the most generic pattern there is, and the blue lines between the green and white muddy everything up horribly. From far away they look like Leafs jerseys.

true enough, I'd go with the current thirds but use the striping from the original jerseys with the V's on the sleeves as depicted in the picture.
