biggie-v-tupac.jpg?w=620

Living in a time where racial inequality is higher than Snoop Dogg on Friday, the vast majority of African-Americans were living in poverty in ghetto neighborhoods such as Harlem, NY, or Compton, California.
With no money to rent a home, these humans lived on the streets, struggling smuggling to survive.

Many if not nearly all African-Americans in these situations, had to act illegally to live another day, or to feed their family.
Since they had a hard time finding a job due to these racial prejudices, they had very few routes to go. More commonly, either a dealer, a theif or a murderer.
However, some reached for the stars to get one of just a few good job openings being available to African-Americans at the time. The good jobs being a sports player(More so Basketball) or an artist.
And here's where Notorious B.I.G(Biggie) and Tupac(2pac) come in.

The rapid success of Notorious B.I.G., and Bad Boy as a company, raised some tensions, especially with the Los Angeles-based Death Row Records. For two years leading up to 1995, West Coast hip hop, dominated by Death Row, had been preeminent in mainstream rap music. Suge Knight, CEO of Death Row Records, held Combs responsible for the shooting death of his friend Jake Robles, allegedly at the hands of Combs's bodyguard. Tensions were heightened when Death Row signed superstar rapper 2Pac, who alleged that the Bad Boy circle, notably Notorious B.I.G. and Puff Daddy, had been complicit in the November 1994 shooting of him in the lobby of Quad Studios in Times Square.

After the June 1996 release of "Hit 'Em Up", smearing Bad Boy, tensions escalated. Tupac was shot in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996 soon after attending the Mike Tyson-Bruce Seldon boxing match at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. Tupac was pronounced dead on September 13. Bad Boy Records issued a statement of condolences. On March 9, 1997, while Bad Boy prepared to release of Biggie's double album Life After Death, he was shot and killed in a car after leaving a party in Los Angeles. The deaths of Biggie and Tupac left many to speculate if the coastal hostility had been responsible for their murders. The police investigations were criticized by public and judicial sources. Both cases remain officially unsolved.

Welcome to Mafia: West Coast- East Coast Rivalry.

BASIC/COMMON ROLES

Town

Backup: A player that will take the role of a specified power role if they die. The inclusion of this role in the game doesn’t always indicate the presence of the primary power role. (ie. there might be a Nurse without a Doctor, etc.)

  • Nurse: Backup to a Doctor.
  • Deputy: Backup to a Cop.

Bus Driver: Can switch the Night actions of two players each Night.

Commuter: “Leaves” the Town each Night and is therefore untargetable by any Night action. Usually limited, as unlimited use of this ability makes a player completely immune to Night kills.

Cop: Player whose ability consists of investigating a player at Night and be informed of their alignment, usually just getting an ‘Innocent’ or ‘Guilty’ from the moderator. There are several variants to the Cop’s sanity:

  • Sane: Their results will always be correct. Mafia investigates as Guilty, Town as Innocent, unless the investigated player’s role states otherwise.
  • Insane: Their results will always be incorrect. Mafia investigates as Innocent, Town as Guilty, unless the investigated player’s role states otherwise.
  • Paranoid: They will always get Guilty, unless the investigated player’s role states otherwise.
  • Naive: They will always get Innocent, unless the investigated player’s role states otherwise.
  • Crazy: Receives results depending on which Night the game is in, odd Night = Guilty and even Night = Innocent or vice versa, unless the investigated player’s role states otherwise.
  • Random: Receives randomized results.
  • Role: Instead of an ‘Innocent’ or ‘Guilty’, a Role Cop receives the name of the role of the player they have investigated.

Doctor: Player whose ability consists of saving a player from a nightkill. They can usually protect themselves. There are a number of modifiers, of which the player may or may not be aware of.

  • Super: Able to protect multiple people per Night (usually 2). This modifier is often limited with the restriction determined by the moderator. (ie. can’t protect the same person two Nights in a row, etc.)
  • Paranoid: Involuntarily roleblock their target, along with protecting them.
  • Quack: Functional equivalent of a Vigilante; kills instead of protecting.
  • Naive: Does nothing.
  • CPR: Protects the target if targeted for a nightkill, kills them if they’re not.
  • Insane: 50% chance of killing the target, instead of protecting them.

Framer: Can ‘frame’ a player each Night to make them show as Guilty in an investigation.

Governor: A Twilight role, can prevent a Lynch from occurring that Day.

Inventor: A role that can give out various items to other players. Each item typically is a one-shot of a ‘power’ role. (ie. protect, investigate, roleblock, etc.)

Jack-of-all-Trades: Usually abbreviated as JOAT. It’s a player with multiple one-shot abilities. The most common variant is allowed to kill, investigate, protect and roleblock. What happens if they’re roleblocked is usually left to the moderator’s discretion.

Jailkeeper: Also abbreviated to JK; player whose ability consists of simultaneously roleblocking and protecting their target.

Mason: Allowed to communicate with another specified Townie outside the game thread.

Townie: A member of the Town and a part of the uninformed majority.

  • Vanilla: Has no Night action.
  • Miller: Will appear guilty in an investigation even though the player is Town.
  • Turn-Coat: When triggered, will change alignment from Town to either Mafia or a Third Party, ie Cult. It’s the game moderator’s discretion as to whether the Turn-Coat will show as Guilty before they switch alignments.

Tracker: Investigates (or ‘tracking’) a player at night. The results who, if anyone, their target used their night action on.

  • Weak: Receives only ‘Positive’ or ‘Negative’ results. Can also be referred to asWatcher.

Reviver: Ability is revive players who have been killed. Due to it’s immense power, it’s usually limited.

Roleblocker: Prevents someone else from being able to use their action.

Vigilante: Town-aligned killing role.

Watcher: Investigates (or ‘watching’) a player at Night. The results stating ‘Positive’ or ‘Negative’ for whether a night action was used on the target..

Mafia

Doctor: See Town Doctor.

Godfather: The head of the Mafia, responsible for contacting the moderator each Night with the kill. They’re usually investigation-immune.

Goon: No ability, the equivalent of Vanilla, and they might be investigate as Vanilla to Rolecops. They usually get to kill in games without a Godfather.

Roleblocker: See Town Roleblocker.

Second-in-Command: Assumes the Godfather’s responsibilities if they are killed or lynched. Usually keep investigating Guilty, unlike Godfathers.

Traitor: A more uncommon role, it’s completely determined by the moderator’s preferences. They know who their partners are, but is unable to get in touch with them unless they ‘recruit’ them. The main faction might not be aware of the existence of a traitor and the recruitment mechanism varies from game to game.

Third Party

Cult leader: Each night, the Cult leader might recruit players into their Cult, who lose their previous alignment and become cult-aligned. They usually die if they try to recruit Mafia. If the Cult Leader is killed, everyone they recruited will die as well. The Cult wins when they’re the majority of players alive. It’s a notoriously difficult mechanic to balance properly so is rarely included in games.

Jester: Wins the game if they’re lynched. There is a lesser used variation of the Jester that requires them to be Night killed. This is a widely unpopular role, considered to be Bastard.

Serial Killer: Similar to a one player Mafia; has a killing ability and wins if they survive until end-game, usually as the last man standing or when nothing can prevent their victory.

Survivor: Wins the game if they survive until end-game.

Mafia Strategies (RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE)

What is Scumhunting?

Scumhunting, or mafia hunting, is a practice where pro-town roles, through intense discussion and analysis, attempt to figure out which players in the game are part of the mafia faction.

It is considered one of the most basic and essential practices in a mafia game; without appropriate scumhunting, any attempts by the town to lynch mafia members will mostly be a matter of luck . Because the town are the uninformed majority, their main weakness is their lack of information. Proper scumhunting can go a long way towards correcting that.

Know Thy Enemy
In order to attempt to uncover the mafia members in your midst, the scumhunting townie must first understand fully the goals of the mafia and the ways in which the mafia can achieve those goals. Essentially, the mafia want to do the following things:
1) They want to confuse and disorientate the town. This includes promoting inactivity and using psychological tactics like WIFOM to obscure the real facts about a situation.

2) They want to eliminate power roles.

3) They want to remove experienced scumhunting townies from the game.

4) They want to cultivate an image that they are pro-town themselves.

When reading through posts in the thread, constantly ask yourself whether this post aids or harms town. Mafia members often are manipulative and try to cast doubt on the posts of townies. They may also engage in behavior like intentionally posting long walls of irrelevant or rambling text to drive away players and flattering or “buddying” influential town members.

If a player engages in such players, he is participating in behavior that harms the town. Ask yourself why he is doing this. Are his overall intentions really for the good of the town? If he attempts to start a bandwagon against a player who has displayed pro-town behavior but does annoying things(like writing his posts in all caps or being excessively belligerent towards others), why is attempting to get a pro-town player lynched? Is it a policy lynch? Does THAT help the town?

Sometimes, it is helpful to pretend you are a mafia member and plot how you would corrupt and confuse the town, then seek out the players who are doing what you would do. What’s important is not to, with a quick scroll through the thread, instantly and quickly identify the mafia members, because such quickfire identification is almost always wrong. Rather, close analysis of the intentions and behaviors that a player engages in can give you clues as to their true alignment.

Other common mafia behaviors include fishing for power roles. If a player proposes that a powerful role like the Doctor or the Cop claim, he may be trying to find out their identities so he can nightkill them later on. In general, a mafia’s posts tend to feel artificial and forced, trying to achieve some sort of ulterior motive rather than posting what they truly think about the situation. They are manipulative, and if you catch such a vibe from a player, it is very likely they are scum.

Bandwagons are Signals
In game theory, signaling refers to taking some sort of strategic action that indicates your thoughts or inclination to take future actions. In mafia, voting is the ultimate signal. By voting a person, you indicate that you want to place them under pressure with a possible future outcome of lynching them. By jumping on bandwagons, you indicate that you agree a certain person should be lynched. Just as tellingly, staying off a bandwagon means that you think the lynch is wrong, or that the person being bandwagoned is a townie.

Look at the people who hop on bandwagons. Usually, mafia members will tend to stay in the middle of bandwagons. Townies are naturally suspicious of people who start bandwagons, fearing ulterior motives; and people who get on late may be viewed as an attempt to gain “credit” for being on the lynch of a mafia member at the last minute. Mafia members therefore love to get on a bandwagon somewhere in the middle. Examine those people carefully, and look at who ELSE they have voted for.

Mafia members do not want to act in the interests of the town. They want to lynch townies, but they don’t want to see too obvious doing it. If you feel that a player is trying to get another player lynched but doesn’t want to seem too obvious, call him out on it and ask him to state his suspicions clearly. Mafia will also engage in bussing, and if you see a player vehemently try to get another lynched, especially on little to no evidence, but backs off quickly when the wagon gains momentum, that may be an act of bussing.

Analyze previous posts once the role of the bandwagoned is flipped. Remember, the mafia will have known his alignment, so think to yourself: “If I was mafia and I had known this player’s alignment, what would I have done?”

Applying Pressure on Mafia Members
If left to their own devices, mafia members will not generally make a lot of mistakes. They will almost certainly make a few slips, but nothing obvious enough or incriminating enough to get then lynched. The job of a good scumhunter is to identify these slips and pick at them until they grow into huge gaping holes until the mafia member has dug himself into a hole and the rest of the town is convinced that he is mafia.

The way to widen these slips is to apply pressure. This can be done through voting someone, but Fingers of Suspicion and verbal pressure is just as effective. Ask him, “Why were you on the bandwagon of this strong town player?” “What was your intention when you tried to cast a doubt on the content of this player’s posts? Do you feel he is lying?” Mafia members hate being in the spotlight and will usually scramble to give a reasonable answer.

What you must do at this point is to keep applying the pressure. You must adopt the role of an interrogator, and search his posts for the flaws he makes, then call him out on them. Keep demanding explanations for inconsistencies, lies and shifty behavior. If they are a town player, they have nothing to fear from the truth, and will answer you honestly. A mafia member will usually try to lie or bluff his way out of it.

It is important to make your suspicions clear. Once you are absolutely sure that a person is mafia, write a post laying out the evidence against him and say clearly, “I think this person is a member of the mafia. We should lynch him.” Then vote him. As mentioned above, voting is the strongest signal in mafia, and by voting him you are communicating your intention to get him lynched. Make sure the rest of the town is aware of his manipulative behavior, his lies, his inconsistencies.

Most likely the player will get flustered and try a last minute gambit based on confusion, claiming WIFOM or a setup, or even that you are scum yourself trying to get him lynched. Do not waver. Keep pushing the lynch with the full knowledge that you will be vindicated of any suspicions he and his faction-mates may have cast on you once he flips scum. At the same time, watch out for people trying to justify or defend his behavior, especially if they (almost reluctantly) join the bandwagon against him later. That’s usually a sign of a mafia buddy giving up the defense and settling for getting the towncred for being on the wagon.

2. The 12 top posters of CDC will be involved in the game. 2-4 of them will die every round based on RNG.

Meaning it is possible for someone who is not even playing the game to win.(Although the chances of that are at almost impossible, unless you guys screw up)

wat

yes please extrapolate

This sort of vetoes the the doctor save, doesn't it? I don't mind too much, but I think some people might
