Scorvat
Do u think the oilers may take a shot at torts or carlyle as coach next year? Note: dont think i spelled carlyle right
Chalky
They should totally hire Torts.
bassetgreg
I would definitely try Carlyle but Vigneault's success in NYR and after Torts disaster in VCR Oilers would be crazy to hire Torts
nuckin_futz
They should hire Torts especially if they get McDavid. Then Torts can make proper use of his talents. You know teach him to block 10 shots a game.

When he goes to the dressing room, just follow him down the hallway and give him a quick shout. No, he'll take it as a joke. Suspended? 15 games, you say? Out of the question. That would never happen to anyone..."

billabong
I think torts is done at the nhl level, he's had 2 straight debacles at the head coaching position. Carlyle is still a good coach but I think there's a better fit out there for edm
tyhee
Todd McLellan This would be a pretty good choice if SJ makes a change this summer. I wouldn't mind Carlyle, spelled correctly or not. Between the way NYR immediately improved on getting rid of him, Vancouver immediately having a disastrous season on him becoming coach then an immediate bounceback when he was fired, his reported lack of practice time, not showing up for practice, failure to communicate with players and the AHL coach, poor utilization of players (overplaying Sedins, running Lack into the ground as a rookie and the choice for the Classic that led up to it) and poor player evaluation (buy out Burrows) all of which is well known, his chasing Hartley as well as whatever else there is that I've missed, anybody who even considered hiring Tortorella as an NHL coach any time soon would challenge for the most popular butt of jokes on late night talk shows despite the lack of hockey in much of the USA. The only way I could see him resurrecting his career would be to start over in the ECHL or in Jr or the NCAA and working his way up, but as he'll be 57 this summer realistically he's got neither the time to work his way back up nor, probably, the motivation to try to do so. Including him as a possibility seemed so outrageous it made me wonder, briefly, if the OP was trolling.
CanuckMan10
Something tells me one of Edm, Buf or Tor will pluck Green out of Utica from us. If utica goes on a big playoff run this year, we're probably going to lose him which is a shame. One of those rebuilding teams will appreciate that he's recently coached younger players because theres going to be a lot of high end youth the next couple years. Too many quality NHL coaches available this summer for that to happen IMO
