[Proposal] Van trades to Edm for Connor McDavid

Recommended Posts

To Edmonton: Bo Horvat, the Sedins, 3 1st round draft picks

To Vancouver: Connor McDavid

Probably what it would take in terms of raw value, although the trade wouldn't make any sense for two reasons:

1. Anyone who offers for the Sedins means they want to win NOW. And it's also a huge risk to take on that much salary. So why would Edmonton want Horvat and 3 first rounders? That's the future. Edmonton would have to make a whole crapload of trades to make themselves a playoff team, starting with the defence and goalie. So to trade away McDavid for two old forwards, a blue chip prospect and three draft picks makes no sense. That's not what they need.

2. You are sending over $15 million in salary cap their way, while we pick up probably $4 million at most. You can't do that.

This guy got it bang on. Probably accurate value, but the trade doesn't make sense logistically.

I honestly think you people overvalue what one player can do.

Crosby is... Crosby. Look at how well his team faired this year, not to mention that team has a Norris-caliber defenceman, Malkin who is arguable the strongest 2C in the game... and that team got knocked out in the first round faster than the Canucks did.

Single players do not make teams but giving up the Sedins, Horvat and 3 future 1st rounders would sure decimate the Canucks future.

Sure, we have great first line threat, maybe one of the best in the game. Meanwhile the rest of our roster is filled with plugs.

Was thinking along the lines of the legendary Eric Lindros deal. What do we have that Edmonton would want to obtain McDavid?

True, but they would also have some assets to trade to another party in a 3 way deal, no?

McDavid would have to tell them he won't sign there AND will only accept a trade to Vancouver. Then they would want Horvat, Kassian, Lack, Tanev, and 3 1st round picks

First game against Edmonton Ference takes out McDavid's career with a vicious head shot or a knee on knee.

The REAL answer to your question. Absolutely nothing. They are not trading that pick or McDavid.

Higgins, Sbisa, McMillan, Bieksa and a 3rd for McDavid would do. Why not? 5 pieces for 1 is actually an advantage for the Oilers.

No it's not. Quality >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Quantity. There is zero chance that trade would get anywhere near McDavid from the Oilers.

They have cap space and young assets to trade to fill all those spots our in most cases terrible depth players would be filling for them. And with McDavid they will have a superstar that players around the league will want a chance to play with.
