Markh25
I am happy about our season. The Canucks made the playoffs. It was a complete turn around. However, the playoffs were atrocious. Our team was exposed by the Calgary Flames. My first ideas come to the defence. Bieksa and Weber need to go. Corrado is just as good or better than bieksa defensively. Put him in already! He deserves it. With weber, I believe Clendening can do a better job than him. For all you Sbisa haters. He isn't going anywhere! Elder - Tanev Hamhuis - Sbisa Corrado - Clendening Let the young guys play together and prove their worth already! I'd rather have them play together than have Bieksa and Weber in our line up. thejazz97
Yes. But put Corrado on the 2nd pairing.
hatedkid666
Weber's age is very underrated here. People always talk about how Sbisa is so young but Weber isn't that much older than him. He also just had a breakout season, I think we should try and keep him on the team for at least 1 more year as a 7th dman/PP specialist

That's one soft d group. None of them would drop the gloves proactively or intimidate. Need toughness back there. We have been missing that ever since Willie Mitchell was let go. 5-6th dmen need to be physical and clear the front of the net, without it it will be easy pickings from the opposition. Just look at all the teams still left in the playoffs....they all have physical dmen as 5/6. Too compound this issue our forward group is as soft as any in the league as well. Markh25
I agree they need to be tougher. I was running late and forgot to put that in there. I believe they need someone like a willie Mitchell for our young D. Just as he helped out ekblad this season. I know he isn't available. But if we can get someone like that, I believe our D would be better than it has been in awhile. Also, we really don't know everything that Corrado and Clendening bring. I just want them to have a chance on proving themselves. Let them! What do we have to lose and how are we supposed to get younger if we don't try it out? chickenman92
It’s been a so/so year for Vancouver; that we all know. But now that the season is done, what can we realistically see happening during the offseason? We know, Daniel, Hank, Vrbata, Burrows, Bonino, Horvat and Dorsett will be back next season it for no other reason then they are Benning guys or they have NTCs they are unlikely to waive. Along with them, Vancouver has or will have, Hansen, Higgins, Kassian, Vey, Kenins and Baertschi under contract. Baring any trades, these 13 will very likely be Vancouver’s forwards when camp breaks. Sedin/Sedin/Burrows Vrbata/Horvat/Kassian Higgins/Bonino/Hansen Dorsett/Vey/Kenins Baertschi On D there are five guys signed in Tanev, Edler, Hamhuis, Bieksa and Sbisa. Add in at the very least two out of three of Weber, Stanton and Corrado will be re-signed (likely all three) and you have seven to eight NHL defenceman. Tanev/Edler Hamhuis/Bieksa Sbisa/Corrado Weber/Stanton In goal Vancouver has two NHL guys in Lack and Miller, and a question mark in Markstrom. Miller Lack Markstrom So those are the likely names that Vancouver will have choose from. What do you do in the offseason? In my opinion, these are the three moves I pull the trigger on. Bieksa- Anywhere he’ll go that will give me a 2nd rd pick or decent prospect. Miller- To San Jose. I’m thinking they can get a 2nd and a 3rd for him. Higgins- Anywhere he’ll go that will give me something/anything for him…and I mean anything. Find a serviceable defenceman and backup goalie via free agency. And let the kids battle for Higgins spot. canucks3322
I could see at least two players leaving for sure from this list Higgins, Bieska, Hamhuis, and Burrows. Also I think JB would let Matthias walk for sure and Richardson. Theres no way our owners would let us do a complete rebuild therefore JB will try to flip these players for rookies or picks. IbanezRG
Are we going for lottery next year? Lack and Markstrom tandem would be a terrible route. Like it or not guys, we won most games this year with Miller and Eddie played good down to stretch so all of that didn't get erased, but he had a very poor playoffs. He's a great goaltender but in my opinion his lateral movement is too slow, he has bad angle use and he panics very easily, he'd be a mistake moving forward with next year. Im not saying he can't be a #1, but he's never going to be a game changing NHL revered #1 goalie no matter how likeable he is on instagram. Piggy Bank
I see 1-2 prospects coming up. Also, one solid offseason signing + 2-3 small trades.
asian player
Baertschi, Corrado will be the rookies in. Higgins, Matthias gone, a goalie may be gone too. Nothing huge
TimberWolf
There will be minor tweaks but expect pretty much the same team

Going after a guy like Hammond or Ramo would save money, make Vancouver younger and the goaltending would be about the same.
DeltaSwede
Wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot of moving pieces this summer. Gone: -Matthias -Richardson -Bieksa -Higgins -Lack Sedin - Sedin - Burr Baertschi - Bonino - Vrbata Hansen - Horvat - Kassian Dorsett - Vey - McMillan Edler - Tanev Hamhuis - Corrado Sbisa - Clendening Stanton - Weber Miller Markstrom
2011
Too many people think that a youth movement in store for next season. The youth aren't entitled to any roster spots, they have to earn them. Benning would be a fool to ship out 5 veterans for 5 unproven players during the offseason. If Baertschi out works Higgins in the preseason, that's fine. Higgins can be a healthy scratch. Until that moment, moving out so many vets is poor decision. Yes somebody has to go. Salary restrictions will force Vancouver into a move or two. 1 or 2, not 5. Realistically, this team is not going have huge overhaul this summer. Draft, develop and deploy when deserving.
Standing_Tall#37
I would like to see Virtanen and baertschi make the team. Then Higgins+Edler+Lack or Markstrom moved for a solid top 3 D-man and hopefully a 2nd maybe even a late first come back or package our first and get into the top 10 this year if we could.
