Sepp Blatter Reconsidering FIFA Resignation

He didn't resign. I hate that the media keeps calling it a resignation. He announced he WOULD resign somewhere from December '15-March '16, and until then he would be keeping his duties as President. Since when is a resignation not active immediately?

He also said that he wouldn't run for President after this last term, which he then went back on.

This guy is a corrupt, powerhungry rodent. Don't believe anything he says. This announcement was obviously to take some pressure off of FIFA and it worked. If Sepp can get everything to die down and make some changes that appease the masses then he will no doubt continue his dictatorship.

Even after the arrests, and the promises to be more transparent, FIFA has been non-stop lying about everything. They denied Valcke knew about the 10m dollar payment (which was later rebuffed by the FBI)... they denied that they paid off the Ireland FA, which was also later proven to be a lie.

This organization needs to be gutted, and I hope the FBI can get some people to flip on Sepp, and he rots in a jail for the rest of his life.

I dont know how he got voted back in to be honest..bought off I would presume..totally corrupt.

Sepp is believed to have bought his way to the top in '98. Since then he has probably been squeaky clean (personally). However, he has stayed on top by equally distributing substantial amounts of money to all countries, no matter how small and insignificant. Every country gets a vote. Oceania has more say in the voting than South America. New Caledonia has as much pull as Brazil.

Why would all the tiny countries abandon him after he has given them so much money? Why would Africa abandon him after he gave them their first world cup? These countries owe him a lot. The problem is that under his watch there has been so much corruption and bribery going on with high ranking members of FIFA. World Cups have been purchased for large sums of money going directly into the pockets of these members. The majority of voting countries turn a blind eye to it.

If the voting was like how America votes in a president (ie. California gets 55 votes, Alaska gets 3)...then this would not be happening. Most of the major players in Europe, North America, and South America have turned on Sepp. But until FIFA reforms its system, this farce will continue.

If anyone is interested in the whole story of Sepp Blatter watch this documentary:

He hasn't resigned yet, I'm sure he'll reconsider several times over the next few months.

It's funny how the western media portrays any other country they don't like getting the Olympics/World Cup it's thru corruption, but if its a country in the alliance it all by rule of law. This is a bunch of nonsense. They are all corrupt, and this is just geo politics creeping into sports. FIFA didn't just become corrupt, It's always been corrupt, same thing for IOC.

I don't think Qatar should be hosting the World Cup because of the way they treat their labor. These poor people are slaves. Over 1200 have died and the death toll is expected to reach 4000 by the time all construction is finished. The workers are regularly beaten, and get less than $1 per hour hour which isn't paid for months. They can't leave the country at their free will. This is 21st century slavery.

As far as corruption and paying for votes, I'm sure every country will pay one way or another so this would be nothing new.

It's actually pretty simple. The deck is stacked in his favor.

So far, we know that at least one World Cup has been bought and paid for: South Africa. There is a lot of suspicion that Qatar and Russia may also have been awarded as a result of bribes.

The way the voting goes is somewhat ridiculous. It's one "country" one vote. (I put country in quotes, because some entities are not technically countries, like England and Northern Ireland)

What that means is a vote from Comoros, or Kiribati carries the same weight as a vote from the USA, or Germany. Since Blatter and his cronies have the entire continent of Africa (and most of Asia) in their collective pocket, a win by Blatter was pretty much a given.

FIFA needs to dump much of it's corrupt leadership, (the criminal investigation will hopefully do much of the "dumping" for them) but it also is in dire need of some common sense restructuring.

One would hope that even an organization as messed up as FIFA would still have some good people as part of the chain of command. It's time they stepped up and start the reformation of football's governing body for the good of the game. The first step is once and for all saying goodbye to the poster boy for organizational corruption, Sepp Blatter.
