Canada Hockey Place
Just an idea if Bieksa is to be moved. WAS: Bieksa, maybe + a little? VAN: Brouwer For WAS - If they lose Mike Green to free agency, a veteran D to replace him on the right side may appeal to a Trotz coached team. 1 yr remaining, cap hit $4.6, salary $2.5. For VAN - Brouwer is a RW but is very good on special team FOs. 56.9% in the dot last season. [This would allow VAN to develop young C like Vey, etc... to take ES FOs but not rely on them for special team FOs]. Also gives VAN another right shot on the PP (8 PP goals last season). 1 yr remaining, cap hit $3.667, salary $3.75. Gives VAN just under $1m more in cap space. silver_surfer
Better off trading Bieksa for cap space and a pick, then re-signing Richardson. Brower is more or less a slower tougher slightly younger and more expensive Higgins.
Jiggs50
Caps love Brouwer. No way they move him. Decent proposal though
LeanBeef
Not really into the Brouwer idea. Bieksa and Kassian for Wilson maybe? Clear a dman spot while getting a young, hard hitting powerforward in Wilson. Dont really wanna see Kass traded but if he is to be traded I would like to see him traded for a similar player that's younger (ie. Tom Wilson or Nick Ritchie) I think Wilson could develop into a player like Brouwer, except with a mean streak. Solid defensively, mean, hits hard, decent fighter, and is young. SaintPatrick33
Washington seems set on their backend, they have one of the top cores in the league, and orpik fills the role that Bieksa would especially since they gave orpik 6 mill per lol
Canorcas
Value quality is pretty even here, but for the reasons stated above-- Washington loves Brouwer, and he wouldn't actually have a spot readily available in Vancouver. Physical, speedy, net-crashing right winger? Between Kassian, Hansen, Dorsett and Burrows.. We're pretty set on that particular type.
Tom Sestito
I also agree value is fair, but we need cap room.
