LaBamba
I am having trouble with music for my boat. When we go out wake surfing people get tired of my taste in music. I try to make it timeless with stuff ranging from the Beatles, to Led Zeppelin, Run DMC and even Hank Williams Jr. I am sick of my own music, it feels like I have heard every song that I like. I want you to give me a 10 song playlist of your All time favourite songs. I don't care what it is. Give me some gems. Link to comment

Nuxfanabroad
Of my generation(40's) I think a big problem is how the industry would only promote(AM & FM) certain songs, off all these timeless albums. Now on Youtube, I listen to artist's full albums(especially from the '70s, my fav period), & I realize all the BRILLIANT tunes i missed, stuck listening to the airwaves. Missed many B-sides, & lesser-known tunes by these great artists. It's such a personal preference-issue. One rule I generally have for listening. Morn: folksy, mellow, soulful, lots of female vocalists. (eg: F Mac, Amos Lee, Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, etc...) mid day: Jazzy or bluesy, like to experiment new sounds/bands with a close listen. Eve: R & R. Get the blood flowin. Time of the day is important for the vibe. Link to comment

Blue Oyster Cult and Deep Purple have a high hidden gem rate in their actual studio albums. Link to comment

Billy Squire made great music I recently discovered, his radio tracks do not give him justice. Link to comment
Nuxfanabroad
There's a coupla Badfinger documentaries online-recommend'em. There was a real wisdom & grace in Pete Ham's lyrics. The song 'Name Of The Game' resonates deeply for me. After the Beatles split(who had signed them, originally), they lost(Apple) their record deal. A corrupt NY mafia lawyer(Stan Polley) signed them, then robbed them blind. Hard to believe how cutthroat the music biz could be. The frustration sure charged into some of their later lyrics. EG: Money; Rock Of Ages. Link to comment
