and like that...life was breathed back into the thread...lol.

Once sheets are updated, I have some business with three or four of you to try to finish off: next weekend I will work on those case files and we will try to finalize at least one trade here in Madison Square Garden. Till then, I am off to see my mom with her broken back and then a work week ahead...blah.

Oilers GM Canuck Surfer met with the local media Monday.

"Yup, we know we have slipped to 11th in the West" he mentioned quick to be accountable. Also optimistic. "Guys should not have their head down. We know where we are at!"

This team is being led by its goaltending. And some great play by an emerging young defence. We'd like to acknowledge the play of 23 year old Justin Faulk who leads our PP and cracked the top 10 in NHL scoring by defence. 22 year old Oscar Klefbom who is playing 23 plus minutes every night and is also flirting with top 20 scoring by a defender. Awesome! And 24 year old rookie D zone anchor Klas Dahlbeck is playing all situations, and has the coaches trust for 18 to 20 minutes a night this past month. 24 year old towering Andrej Sustr is also flirting with top 4 consideration. "Great teams start with defence and goaltending!"

What we need to do is get our forwards going! Get some physical play and score some goals up front. That's where we are at. But even there are some encouraging signs. Tyler Bozak is healthy again and playing well. Michael Frolik steady. The coach has said Jeff Skinner has been playing both solidly, and been unlucky not to break out so far but had a goal last night. And we have had a chance to work Kerby Rychel, who was on a tear in the AHL, into our line up and he has started producing. That should get some energy going. Now some other boys, who have been playing hard, need to break some slumps and get more comfortable together. We like the play of new signing Brian Flynn, Nik Spaling, Jacob Josefson & Daniel Winnik. They all need a break? Ryan White was playing hard before getting hurt. We think we're going to see improved forward play in the next month!

And we're going to keep working on our talent base to provide a further boost vowed Surfer! The media should not interpret that as we will sell our best young assets for immediate short term help. Our offer to look at trades to further improve our forward group remains open!
