Canucklehead73
(Search was broken, browsed 8 pages in...) Anyone know why we haven't gone after Franson? I admit to not seen him play at all, but his bio reads as a good offensive player with a good shot, hits but who is inconsistent at times... Still had more points than any of our D men... Seem to me he would still solidify our top four better than Webber would... no?
iinatcc
Maybe his stint in Nashville dropped his value to the point he isn't getting the offers he was initially expecting?
peaches5
He is big and slow. We do not need him.
ice orca
He probably wants the moon and teams are making him sweat.
70seven
Franson would be all right, but its far more worth it to wait and see if next summers D crop can be bought. Seabrook, Byufglien, Yandle, Goligoski, E. Johnson, Hamhuis, Giordano, Coburn, Russel, Demers... Its possible that most of thses players could be retained, but Im guessing that therell be a few that wait it out and cash in.... Where Benning will be waiting. Id LOVE if we could pull a Tkachuck with Hamhuis.
Edlerberry
Glen Sather, Paul Holmgren, and George McPhee are no longer GMs.
hatedkid666
Edler Tanev Hamhuis Bartkowski Weber Corrado Clendenning Sbisa Are all in the NHL next year
Wash
Id LOVE if we could pull a Tkachuck with Hamhuis. Took me a little while to figure that out, but that would be awesome! Maybe the same with Vrbata too!
Monteeun
I don't mind Franson but if he's asking beyond the horizon money, then no. We're not that desperate.
c00kies
Franson is a lot like Garrison; big shot, lack mobility, and not very physical. Franson is slightly better offensively and as a puck mover, but Garrison is better defensively. I'd gladly take Franson, but only at an affordable contract (prefer short-term). Edler-Tanev Hamhuis- Franson Bartkowski-Weber Corrado and Clendening are also looking to stay on as top-6 d-men, so we'll see how that goes. bigbadcanucks
Took me a little while to figure that out, but that would be awesome! Maybe the same with Vrbata too! No thanks to an aging, soft European that disappears in the playoffs. Keep him til the deadline where he can provide up to 20 goals in the regular season...then dump him to the Habs for their two second round draft picks. Let the Habs have 3 Canucks cast-offs on their right side. Though the Canucks need size on the back end, IMO Franson is not the answer. Apparently Shattenkirk is being shopped around by the Blues (source: The Hockey News Rumor Roundup)...wonder what it would take to get him out of St. Louis...would they be wiling to take Vrbata if the Canucks offered to retain $2M of the cap hit along with one of Clendening or Corrado? Canucklehead73
Yeah I'd love Shattenkirk. But you can't really think Franson is worse than our bottom three defenseman... He even wants to play here.
DinoTambo
Yeah I'd love Shattenkirk. But you can't really think Franson is worse than our bottom three defenseman... He even wants to play here. Bottom line... If you sign Franson, not only would he now be your highest paid D-man, you'd have to move one of those bottom 3 d-men (Sbisa: nope,..JB's boy, Bartkowski: nope,...JB'S boy 2.0, Weber..perhaps, but you'd have to deal him by the end of the summer...) And if you don't trade one of those 3, then you'd lose either Corrado or Clendenning on waivers. Franson doesn't fit here, right now.
Ghostsof1915
The Canucks don't have cap room to sign Franson. And we have Corrado and Clendening who are ready to step in.

Are you sure? Seems if he "wanted too" he'd take less money and he'd be in a Nucks uniform now
shazzam
I don't think we want to commit to the term that he is seeking, likely 5+ years.
Phil_314
Edler Tanev HamhuisBartkowski Weber Corrado Clendenning Sbisa Are all in the NHL next year They should be, whether they're with Vancouver the year after is another question Plus I'd easily ship some of that depth out to get another, more proven guy (e.g. Seabrook, Johnson, even Demers) to solidify that back end on the right side after moving Hammer out at the deadline this year.
