Time Capsule - Prediction thread for 2015-16 season

Recommended Posts

There many perspectives out there as to where the Canucks will end up at seasons end. This is your chance to go on record with your opinions and predictions for the upcoming season.

The rules are simple:

1) Everybody gets 1 post (please be honest) in which they are allowed to post their prediction for the upcoming season.

2) This post can be edited as much as you like right up until 5:00 PM on October 6th, the the night before the opening game against the Flames.

3) After 5:00 PM on October 6th, the thread will be locked, sealed and pinned by a moderator (it's already been pre-approved by a mod) only to be opened again once the Vancouver Canucks have played their last game of the season (when ever that may be). This will hopefully fuel some interesting discussions at the end of the season.

4) Please, NO DISCUSSION WITHIN THIS THREAD. It will only get messy.

5) You can include anything you want in your post and it doesn't have to be just about the Canucks - standings, line-ups, trades, proposal predictions ect..

Note: this thread is not meant to "call anybody out"; rather, it is to give people an opportunity to have a central platform in which people can compare predictions.

Standings:

1. Anaheim

2. Calgary

3. Vancouver

4. LA

5. San Jose

6. Edmonton

7. Arizona

Points: 94

Record: 44-32-6

Top scorers: Henrik Sedin, 77 points, Daniel with 75, Vrbata with 58.

Playoffs: Sneak in with wild card. But lose first round to Calgary, again.

Draft: 16th overall.

Other predictions:

Kenins and Horvat will breakout as one of the top 3rd lines in the western conference, potting 15 goals and another 20 helpers minimum, each.

Baertschi will struggle, and CDC will freak out, but he will also show flashes of brilliance and will be a staple on our roster for years to come.

Another disappointing year on the back end. Hamhuis has just walked to free agency, and we need to fill holes badly. Look for Benning to go all out on a young top-4 guy.

Benning WILL acquire more draft picks.

Canucks will definitely make the playoffs. Miller, if healthy, will be in the top ten for goalie wins. The downers will go into hiding under their bridges until next year at which time they'll all come out again and put the team down, reppeating the process until the canucks finally win a cup. Who am I kidding, they will still do it.

1) Vancouver misses the playoffs.

2) We get rid of Hamhuis and Vrbata at the deadline for poor returns.

3) Horvat proves to be a legitimate 3rd line centre in the NHL.

4) Baertschi struggles to be a top 6 forward.

5) Vey won't get much better and plays mainly on the 4th or in the press box, with occasional visits on the 3rd for injuries.

6) Kenins becomes a staple on the 4th.

7) Sedins regress into 60pt. players.

With our core getting up in age we will start to see injuries creep into our lineup.

This will turn out to be a blessing in disguise as our youth in Utica step up and make a huge impact.

Hunter Shinkurak will be traded for Markus Granlund

Canucks finish with 85 points. Where ever that puts them in the standings it's out of the playoffs.

The Sedins become 50-60 points players due to decline and not getting so many empty net points.

Miller plays 55-60 games and finishes with unimpressive stats similar to last season.

Markstrom gets his fair share of games and shows improvement.

Horvat has a strong year and puts up around 50 points.

Virtanen makes the team and shows promise.

Defence plays well defensively but shows very little offence.

Hansen continues to be Hansen, nothing less nothing more.

The rest of the team underwhelms.

The slow steady rebuild will stay the course even in the face of fan hysteria over management's refusal to bow to the blow it up crowd.

There will be very little Canuck movement at the trade deadline causing further tears of outrage.

Horvat will start slow but by December will again make great strides. He will be a huge part of the future.

The Sedins will once again lead the team in points but will not get the recognition from the negative nancies.

Bonino and Vey will surprise. They will be better and more consistent.

Baertschi will show flashes early on, then fade, then pick it up again at the end of the year. He will prove to be well worth the 2nd round pick, but won't truly emerge until the following year.

Gaunce will make the team. Virtanen and Shinkaruk will not be on the opening night roster...but Shink will get call ups. Certain predictable posters will call Virtanen a bust.

Sbisa will also be up and down, and often look like Dion Phaneuf...making big hits but often finding himself out of position. But the big hits will occasionally be worth it. He will not be top four, but will be decent 5/6. Edler and Tanev will be a decent, but not great 1st pair. Weber will be our best PP D-man.

Markstrom will begin to prove himself in a sheltered back up role. Miller will steal games but will still be a target of the negativo crowd. He will not be moved.

Calgary, SJ and Dallas will not make the playoffs. Brian Burke will call it a massive organizational failure and "courageously" take responsibility for missing the playoffs while simultaneously pointing fingers at others in the franchise.

Edmonton will be vastly improved but will not make it either.

LA will be in the post season but won't do any damage. Sutters message will be stale at the end.

Anaheim won't do as well as some people predict but Kesler will do his job. This will not be enough to justify his contract.

Chicago fans will begin to regret the Toews and Kane contracts.

The Canucks character will be their main feature and they will make the playoffs.

Tampa Bay will win the Cup.

I think we are gonna have rough start .. bad bounces , questionable calls .. By the trade deadline I think we will be just far enough out of it that we will trade some of our vets i.e. Hamuis , burrows , vrbata .... I dont think Miller makes it through a whole season either .. guessing part of our early collapse is because he gets injured .

Next year , We pick high and often at the draft !!!

orrrrrrrrr .. Im completely wrong and we dominate and win he cup . ands thats hockey folks
