(Proposal) Acquiring a young d-man

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone first time posting anything. Please tell me if im missing something in this post.

So as of now our defence is arguably below average and regarding our young defenceman we have depth just no real top end talent.

Hutton Corrado Tyamkin Subban Sautner Cederholm and Pedan. We may have 2-3 top-4 defenceman in that group of future defenceman but no true number 1 defenceman.o

My proposal is to either aquire:

Josh Morrissey

Or

Morgan Reilly(If possible)

So what would it take to get one of these guys, my preference would be Morrissey as he would most likely cost less asset wise and could still be a 1-2 defenceman.

Maybe something like

To Vancouver: Josh Morrissey

To Winnipeg: Brendan Gaunce

Vancouvers 2015 1st round pick

If im off in value please let me know and share your opinions. If its rediculous value please let me know.

it will determine st.louis' cap space...maybe tanev and a first...

Steep but most likely worth it

I don't think St. Louis would do that. We'd need even more. Perhaps add a 2nd... at which point I get hesitant to do it.

The concept is spot on.

Morrisey, Bowey, Severson, Sanheim, Theodore, the day is probably gone where Pitt had enough prospect depth to deal Pouliot... But a stud two way D or PMD would go a LONG way to improving the pace of our ability to move the puck.

As for the individual proposal, I just don't see that Winnipeg needs Gaunce. Not like Gaunce a former first round pick, and a first, is a chump change suggestion. Its just fit. They have Ehlers, Kyle Connor, Lemieux & Foley to work in at LW. Perreault & Matt Fraser to tide them over till they are ready. Where does Gaunce fit?

I've always been curious about this what is a realistic ceiling for bowey. And maybe a 1st Jensen and a 3rd/4th might fit their needs better. And Gaunce can play center. Maybe when sheifele takes 1c for them and lowry takes 2c gaunce could be the third guy in the trio

What we need for THIS season are 1-2 defencemen who are close to NHL ready but are able to go up and down from Utica without being exposed to waivers.

I am nearly 100% certain that we will acquire at least one before the season starts.

Pedan and Hutton?

I think we can do something like this;

Mccann and a Anaheims 2016 2nd for Theodore

If we can get another low first rounder next year (probably Vrbata or Hamhuis) we can do Mccann and the low first rounder for Haydn Fleury

We can also do something like Edler for Bowey if we are way out of the playoff race and has decided now is the best time to trade Edler and get the most out of his value while he's still a top pairing Dman in his prime.

It's been traded to Pittsburgh... They wouldn't do that anyways
