The Buffalo News reports that Hamburg, N.Y., police are investigating some sort of incident, and two sources tell the paper that incident involved Blackhawks star Patrick Kane. And thats literally all we know right now. (Maybe you know more?)

Two sources said Hamburg police officials have forbidden their officers and detectives from publicly discussing the investigation.

We can neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of a criminal investigation until such a time as a person is charged with a crime, said Hamburg Police Chief Gregory G. Wickett.

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III used very similar language when asked about an investigation.

Hamburg, outside of Buffalo, is where Kane makes his home in the offseason. Its in that area where Kane racked up his only known arrest: in 2009 he was booked for punching a taxi driver in a dispute over 20 cents change. He was indicted on assault, theft, and harassment charges, and later pleaded down to disorderly conduct.

The Newss reporting seems to indicate that whatever happened this time, happened over the weekendin a break with accepted practice, the police chief denied the paper access to the weekends police blotter.

The News has filed a pair of FOIL request for those police logs and for any reports involving Kane, but that could take weeks. In the meantime, the News is going public with as much as it can for one of two potential reasons (or both): to put pressure on the stonewalling cops to say something, or to stake their claim to a story before someone else gets it.

So if youre from the area and have heard anything, please let us know.

Update, 10:28 a.m.: WKBW-TV in Buffalo cites sources claiming police are investigating an alleged incident involving...Kane and a woman that began at a bar in Evans.

Hopefully gives EA a reason to change their such horrid NHL 16 cover!

There is literally no substance here...

"No charges have been filed in connection with the investigation and it is not known whether police have questioned the 26-year-old hockey player.

The News went to Kanes Hamburg home Wednesday morning to seek his comment but was denied access by a man at the house who did not identify himself."

God damn media vultures.

JUST IN: Sources say police investigating alleged incident involving Patrick Kane and a woman that began at a bar: http://bit.ly/1MPlFF9

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) - Sources in Hamburg tell 7 Eyewitness News that police are investigating an alleged incident involving Chicago Blackhawks player and South Buffalo native Patrick Kane and a woman that began at a bar in Evans.

The Buffalo News was the first to report an investigation is underway Thursday morning. But Hamburg Police Chief Gregory Wickett has told 7 Eyewitness News he "can't confirm or deny" an investigation is underway.

At this point, no charges have been filed against Kane.

When asked about the situation, a NHL spokesperson responded that, "We are aware and following developments."

Patrick Kane has helped lead the Blackhawks to Stanley Cup wins in 2010, 2013 and last year. But it wasn’t without some controversy.

In August 2009, Kane was arrested in Buffalo for assaulting a taxi driver. He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges and was granted a conditional discharge.

Look at the teams that have won the Cup lately. Each of them has had players with "character" issues. Canucks have let go good players with skills we as a team need. The reason was apparently related to character issues. Obviously character, or lack thereof, is not a deciding factor for success in the NHL.

Rape cases needs to be handled very carefully, there's been a surge of false accusations lately and some states don't even have a law to protect against the suspect and sometimes you'll just get thrown in jail or convicted without further investigation, read about the recent Zach Anderson situation.

I know its the internet, and sometimes most of the time people are just saying things to get a reaction because nobody will talk to them in real life, but some of the responses in here are insanely stupid.

Obviously nobody in here knows what happened, but to make claims about 'cashing in' and 'he's attractive and rich' are moronic for several reasons. If you think rape is just about getting some, you're wrong. Even if a guy can get it pretty much whenever he wants, doesn't mean he won't rape for a sense of power/control. What if the victim had a boyfriend/husband? Just because a man is young, wealthy, and attractive, doesn't mean every woman wants to fall on his penis.

To be clear: Kane still is being investigated and no charges have been filed. Info in this and previous tweet from law-enforcement source.

However, there is a belief from multiple sources Kane might turn himself in as early as today.

Entire #Blackhawks organization, not surprisingly, appears to be on total lockdown right now. Nobody's talking

Doesn't look like we'll see any details for a while.
