Vancouver, BC – The 2015 Young Stars Classic in Penticton, BC, beginning Friday, September 11 will feature a number of notable prospects of the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets. Over the past four Young Star Classics, over 80 players have gone on to play NHL games. Complete rosters will be released at a later date. A limited number of Tournament ticket packages go on sale on July 10 at 10:00 AM.

The Vancouver Canucks roster will include four players selected in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft since 2012: Jake Virtanen (6th overall in 2014), Jared McCann (24th overall in 2014), Hunter Shinkaruk (24th overall in 2013), and Brendan Gaunce (26th overall in 2012). Cole Cassels, who helped lead the Oshawa Generals to a Memorial Cup Championship this past season, will attend the event alongside defence prospects, Ben Hutton and Jordan Subban. 2015 Entry Draft selections Guillaume Brisebois (66th overall) and Dmitry Zhukenov (114th overall) will also make their Young Stars tournament debut.

The Calgary Flames roster includes three first round draft picks: Sam Bennett (4th overall in 2014), Emile Poirier (22nd overall in 2013) and Morgan Klimchuk (28th overall in 2013). A thread had already been made (http://forum.canucks.com/topic/371035-discussion-2015-young-stars-classic/), but other than the pics, I think yours is better. I'm excited to watch our young players this year, assuming the games are broadcast on CDC again. Hopefully injuries won't prevent some of our prospects from being able to attend like last year (Virtanen, Cassels, McCann). Looking forward to it.

Wow, the Canucks young stars are in though against those other teams. The other Western Canadian teams have some big star power among thier prospects. Sounds like Demko won't be able to make it, I'm guessing due to NCAA rules.

Shinkaruk - McCann - Virtanen

Gaunce - Cassels - Zhukenov

Stewart - Valk - Fox

Hutton - Subban

Brisebois - Neill

Cederholm - McEneny

Olsen

I don't see Jasek listed, guess his Czech team would prevent that. No Demko or Boeser because of school. Goaltending is up in the air. Jets have probably the best prospect pool in the league without drafting in the top 5. Nurse is the only one that scares me on the Oilers.

Add Ashton Sautner, Kyle Pettit and Joseph Labate to that group.

I expect that the Canucks will bring back a few guys they had from prospects camp in July like Justin Lemke, Reid Gardiner and Jackson Whistle as they are all CHL property..

McDavid doesn't scare you. The dude could play at half speed and still be the best player on the ice in a touney like this.
