TheHockeyNerds
Veteran defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, one of the few remaining impact players on the free agent market, has signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Kings, sources told ESPN on Sunday. The 33-year-old unrestricted free agent played last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, but his season was cut short by injury and he appeared in only 49 games. Ehrhoff missed the Penguins' first-round playoff series against the New York Rangers. In spite of receiving a clean bill of health from doctors in the offseason, the versatile Ehrhoff, who three times in his career has recorded at least 40 points, could not find a home during the early days of free agency and had to bide his time until late in the summer. Ehrhoff, who had discussions with Chicago and Dallas among other teams earlier in the summer, should be a good fit for a Kings team that won Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014 but missed the 2015 playoffs. Ehrhoff provides nice blue line depth for the Kings who remain in a state of limbo over the status of another top defender, Slava Voynov, who missed almost all of last season while under suspension pending the resolution of a domestic battery charge filed against him last October. http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nhl/story/_/id/13494656/christian-ehrhoff-signs-1-year-deal-los-angeles-kings
Ilya Mikheyev
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 8m8 minutes ago If this is already out there, I apologize. Haven't been on Twitter. In any case, LAK and Christian Ehrhoff have agreed to terms on 1-yr deal Rich Hammond @Rich_Hammond 3m3 minutes ago Lombardi confirmed Christian Ehrhoff signing at 1 year, $1.5 million. Pragmatic, solid deal.
Provost
They had better be confident about the Richards arbitration... they will be in some serious cap trouble with his and Voynov's contrcts coming back on the books. Even a deal at $2 million for Erhoff (no idea what it is yet) is too much for them. This also might make the league less likely to do the Kings a favour when they lose the Richards case if they keep signing free agents even though they may well be millions over the cap. Maniwaki Canuck
That should be a good fit for both parties. Wouldn't be surprised to see his offensive numbers rebound there, and his defensive issues covered up by their size and system.

But they should have 2 million in cap space as long as 1 of Voynov or Richards' cap doesn't count, right? With Voynov off the books for now, my guess is they're confident they can figure out the cap situation once he returns, or best case scenario they won't have to worry at all if Richards loses his case. Ilya Mikheyev
Also note that Dean Lombardi drafted Christian when he was GM of the Sharks.
Darkstar
Called it in the other Ehrhoff thread. It's a good fit for both sides.
Provost
It also puts into question where Franson goes as there was some speculation he had a deal with LA that was pending the cap space issue being cleared up.
Robongo
Rumour is 1.5 million, same as Bartkowski That Sbisa deal looking better and better

Yep. Although at the moment it doesn't look like the Canucks are a possibility, if Ehrhoff signed a tiny, i.e. ~1.2M/1-year deal or something, you never know. Master Canuck
Can't wait for all the losers who will come here whining and crying about how we didn't sign him, unable to let go of 2011.
Robongo
Doubt Ehrhoff was looking for 1.5 million on July first The point is that it's always beneficial to have cap space late into the summer for bargain deals. Wonder what this means for Franson? What a weird summer, brutal if you're a UFA
