Kind of hard to find an image of him in a Canucks jersey when he has never played a single game with the club. And that is why I also used an image of his junior team in your sig. I think it's pretty simple and there isn't much going on with text on a black background and three renders. I would try adding a hint of blue in the background to keep the theme Canucks-related. Also, maybe try blending the renders in more. Yeah, the cutting of the renders looks a bit choppy, I'm not really good at it either, so I usually find them online. I re-did it and made it bigger since I'm going to use it as my facebook cover photo. Shinkaruk still looks kinda choppy around the pants but Bo and Jake turned out really nice. What I mean by 'blending' the renders in more is adding some effects (like playing around with the filters, adjusting the brightness, adding some depth, colouring, etc.) so it flows well with the background and the whole sig instead of it looking like a simple cut and paste job. But I do see you tried making the renders brighter. I would also try adding some lighting. Do you by chance have the PSD saved? I would like to see it and maybe try collab-ing. A neat trick is that cool pic in the background of VC's siggy. Then the C A N U C K S scripting in the background muted into the backdrop like he does the players.
