After getting off to their worst start in 10 years -- being outscored 10-4 in home losses to Winnipeg and Montreal -- the B's may be starting to develop contingency plans in case things don't drastically improve in the next few weeks. According to separate hockey sources, there has been some level of recent trade discussion about veterans Zdeno Chara and Brad Marchand with other teams around the league, just to name a few B's players. The talks haven't been substantial but more exploratory in nature, as the team quietly gauges the market value of higher-priced veterans who may not fit in the long-term picture if the decision is made to tear down the current roster. No one is going to want a 7 mil defenseman who is prone to injury, and barely produces half of what he use to point-wise. The east had 11 playoff teams, but their were only 8 spots, Boston got the short end of the stick, kinda like L.A of the West, and now its a full out rebuild? unreal, wouldn't mind Chara at a reduced price. Apparently Hamilton had attitude issues, but that's hardly telling when the B's locker-room was so divided last year. Sweeny's mistake was not just trading this guy, but getting a horrible return as well. Hamilton's going to be a great D for Calgary for years. Sweeny's easily one of the worst GM's I've ever seen. Chiarelli knows him, and a slowed down injury prone Chara is still better than most of their defence. Can also see Marchand going to Calgary, he'd fit in just fine there. Mike Vanderhoek Posted October 13, 2015 Share Posted October 13, 2015 3 games into the season lol Chara is the team's anchor on defense and team leader, he is likely not going anywhere this season and the team isn't going to panic after 3 games and " engage " in trade talks as a plan B. The Bruins like all teams will keep the lines of communication open and discuss possible trade scenarios with other clubs as they do every day. Players you build around are hamilton, lucic not aging dmen like chara or pukes like marchant.
