TheRussianRocket.
With McCann and Virtanen making the team, there's an excess of forwards. At the moment it's not a problem since there are injuries but when everyone is back, management will have to make a move or two. Daniel, Henrik, Vrbata, Burrows, Sutter...Dorsett, Prust, Higgins, Hansen, Baertschi...Horvat, Virtanen, McCann, Gaunce, Cracknell = 15 forwards. Gaunce will likely be sent down when Prust comes back leaving us with 14 forwards but another move will still have to be made. Management has said they'll make room for the youngsters if they deserve a spot and with Jake and Jared being locks now, something will have to give way. Circumstances have changed to complicate things a bit as well. I don't think anyone (besides Apollo lol) thought the transition would be this smooth and successful. Team is doing well, ahead of many teams who were predicated to do better than us, leaving the Pacific wide open for the taking. There's a good chance the Canucks can be the Flames of last year, win a round or two with the fusion of youth + veteran leadership, raising some eyebrows and fly under the radar. No pressure, no expectations, could be a nice little transition year on top of the year we had last season to keep progressing slowly....so how does the circumstance change? Well, do you still move a pending UFA in Vrbata at the trade deadline to get younger or no? Ship him out and you lose a valuable piece of the team essentially dropping your chances of competing like the team currently is. Like wise, same question is applied to Hamhuis and Prust who are also pending UFAs.
MLT
Nobody gets moved. Depth is a good something. There's more often than not an injury.
MeanSeanBean
Trade them both for picks or prospects. Resign hammer in the summer. I also thought trade Prust till I saw him as a nuck, now I say trade Higgy.
Gstank29
Keep Hammer trade Vrbata. We keep Hammer because we don't have enough depth on the backend and losing a top 4 guy will make us relay on Miller even more than we already do
*Buzzsaw*
Nobody is going to be traded till the deadline at earliest. So this discussion and poll is premature by three months.

BoKnows
Trade Vrbata and Hammer, for picks and prospects. Thus allowing the youngsters to get more ice team, and release some cap space. Not to mention our team will get younger you'll still have vets in the Sedins, Burrows, Edler, (ect.) and we'll have an opportunity to draft our pick up a future super star. Zuongo
Hammer has been rubbish and Vrby has no chance staying with us after this year... So I would think both would go, even Higgy. Saying all that, only if the price is right... Don't wanna trade Vrby for a 6th round pick or something ridiculous.. But....lets be honest. Neither will get traded, we will bomb in the first round and lose them for nothing this off-season.
KootNuck
If there is interest trade hammer and vrbata for picks or young dman, opens up room for gaunce kid deserves to play, use picks to trade for young ready dman or use at draft, but there has to be interest, I would move higgy if they can also, keep hanson. bobby-b
Letting the season develop farther is the best way to tell what kind of piece needs to be added for this sessions results, first. To keep thinking that draft picks is the first and foremost task to be accomplished, only takes away from the needed focus on how this years team is doing. If you have no idea where this team is headed, it would be beyond stupidity to set a definite course and a strict time of arrival in a future that may not be there to greet you... even though "You really think so now"

tyhee
I thought Cracknell was waiver exempt? It's been 9 years since he signed his entry level contract. The length of the exemption depends on the age at signing and number of games played, but can't go beyond 6 seasons. As for the main statement of the thread, I agree with those that see no rush to move anyone. That's not to object if a chance to improve the team is available, but right now it isn't essential to make room.Gaunce just got reassigned to Utica, as most will have expected. Mathew Barzal
It would have been nice to ice a third line as our fourth line but Jimbo's committed to the Prust and Dorsett combo, which sucks.
