*Buzzsaw*
1st Unit Power Play is clearly not working... in fact it is giving up goals. What does WD need to do to fix it.Poll choices or your own ideas.
Outsiders
Whats wrong with our PP is we pass to much, waste 45 seconds to set up a shot on goal and Edler can't get that shot through. No one stays in front of the net making it easy for goalies to see the puck. Finally way to predictable, Edlers drop pass and Vrbata's back door set up. bigbadcanucks
Get Edler and Weber off the points. Replace them with Hutton and Vrbata. Trade for John Scott. Convert him from being a goon to a power play specialist. Park him in front of the net, because no one on the first unit seems to know where the net is. Let Henrik, Daniel, Radim, Ben play around with the puck while John Scott ties up two of the opposing defencemen...lots of room for the Hutton and Vrbata to blast away from top of the circle. This would only work if Henrik can win a face-off while on the power play. That's where the plan falls apart.Never mind me.

desiboynux4lifee*******
McCann is a pure shooter, so I don't see a problem in putting on with the Sedins. Vrbata has to start to earn his pp time, he hasn't done much to earn it, other then being known as a pure sniper, that was then and this is now! Tragoedia
that's rudeAnd irrelevant.Next practice I would focus almost entirely on the PP and getting the puck out of the zone. Try a bunch of combinations to find fresh chemistry.
DeNiro
The powerplay has to revolve around a shooter. All the good powerplays do. Either it's a point shot or it's a shot from the slot.Edler can't get the puck through. Every time he shoots he hits the oppositions shin pads or shoots it high and wide. If Weber's gonna be in the lineup, we might as well take advantage of his best characteristic, which is a heavy shot.Vrbata is snake bitten right now and can't seem to snipe. Our next best shooter is Daniel who refuses to shoot for whatever reason. So the only really option right now is McCann IMO.Sedin Sedin McCannWeber Tanev
coolboarder
Split up the Sedins. I would like to see: PP1McCann/Henrik/Burrows/Hutton/VrbataPP2Daniel/Sutter/Baer/Edler/Weber Burrows and Virtenan is interchange for the net presence, so is Sutter. half-board quarterback, the Sedin twins handling the puck for both units. Vrbata and Hutton on the blue line. No more 2-2-1 formation as 1 is the lone blueliner. Maybe play as umbrella or overload PP formation. Simple strategy, no more perimeter passing around for a perfect shot. Just shoot as soon as the shooting lane is open to make it look good and gain confidence. Sometimes you need to go back to basic to regain the confidence. No more drop passes strategy for a while. Keep the PP break out simple anytime the puck ices down on the ice. However, on 5 on 5, keep the Sedin together to gain more possession time.

But they are best together on the powerplay (where they consistently fail to score), so until another combination shows they can push them off the first powerplay (by not scoring even more?), we should just roll out the same lines and same plays. There is no way other teams could catch on to their plan.
Maniwaki Canuck
Well at least Willie is admitting we have a problem with the PP, which is a start. Solving this one is not going to be easy. Can anyone on this team man the point? If it's true that McCann did in junior, I'd even try that. Sutter and Vrbata are decent but not high-end right shot options, and we need that with the Sedins. If Hansen keeps up the kind of play we saw last night, I'd go that route for a while. We need someone to make things happen.
IBacon Strips
Vrbata has been useless as a forward and a liability as a defenseman on the PP. Nothing has seemed to get him going and at this point he needs to be reminded that you have to produce to get top power play time. I'd love to trade him asap for anything decent, but that isn't going to happen until deadline. Sedin-Sedin-McCann/SutterWeber-TanevSutter/McCann-Horvat-HansenHutton-EdlerBoth units have a good slot shooter and have a natural side d paired up with a one timer bomb from his off side. Tanev isn't as bad offensively as Hamhuis and can hopefully shore up Weber's defenseive shortcomings. I wouldn't mind seeing Sutter tested on the point of one of the units if they want to keep plugging Vrbata back into the top power play. Baer has had some speed/creativity to his game recently and he could snag up some power play time in place of someone like Hansen, but that will come in time. Virtanen would probably benefit a lot from the open ice as he is probably our fastest player besides Hansen and would have an easier path to the net, but again there just isn't room for him to be there right now. If we get another 5 minute power play, after many other failed power plays, and Virtanen doesn't touch the ice at all, that'd be ridiculous. smokes
With the Sedins playmaking ability, I honestly think they gotta try having Henrik and Daniel lead their separate power play lines and see what happens. Both are very good playmakers that can set up others. Burrows - Henrik - Vrbata Edler - WeberDaniel - Horvat - Virtanen Hutton - Hansen

CANUCK-EXPRESS
Less passing, more shooting. PP1 spends atleast 15 seconds trying to get in the zone, doing that stupid drop pass and 50 seconds passing before taking a shot.
