Raspberries
John Shannon @JSportsnet 6m6 minutes agoAlex Burrows will meet with NHL officials on Friday in Toronto to discuss his exchange with Devils' Jordan Tootoo. Seriously, how utterly ridiculous is this. Is the NHL now going to suspend Burrows for trash talking?? Is every NHL player going to receive the same idiotic treatment every time they say anything on the ice?? The NHL couldn't be making itself any more of a joke if it tried. Derp...
Pathetic, people are getting their brains smashed into the walls and they are going to take the time to discuss what someone said on the ice in the heat of a battle. I'm all for respecting the game, and your opponent, but this seems a little fishy
King Heffy
Disgusting. It's an absolute joke if he gets any kind of punishment whatsoever but the NHL cannot be trusted to conduct itself appropriately. I don't expect any kind of professionalism considering the guy they're hauling in exposed one of their refs as corrupt filth.
Jam126
First thing I wanna say, Tootoo is a terrible hockey player that seeks attention, that scum is the epitome of terrible plugs. Second, if they are going to suspend Burrows, I'll make a big paragraph about how dumb it is. Yes, making rude remarks to your opponent is bad, but suspension over it while others are getting injured badly is a problem.

Fred65
The NHL has a long long memory ....sort of elephants of the Pro sports leagues. Burrows was instrumental in getting a league official fired ( Auger) if they can get him for any minor, any minor offense, they will do it with glee

CANUCK-EXPRESS
Oh sht I guess his comments were that bad? Or it could just be a warning? next time he does something like that he'll get fined or suspended?
gizmo2337
If inappropriate comments had been made publicly via an interview on microphone, I could understand. There is a necessity to maintain professionalism of the sport in the public eye. However, whatever was said as part of normal chirping belongs on the ice and should stay on the ice. It was not meant to be heard by anyone other than the two players. Surely the league has more important things to focus on?Sticks and stones may break my bones... CANUCK-EXPRESS
Or the NHL is that petty.Maybe its just a meeting telling him to watch what he say? Like NHL had a meeting with Byfuglien and they didnt suspend him. I know it's a different situation but you know what im saying.
Crabcakes
Oh, it's a case of "he said, he said" at this point.Does Tootoo get a suspension for leaving the bench (he left the ice and came back) and starting a fight before the puck was dropped? I don't think Burr saw him coming and Dorsett stepped in.
gameburn
Unless every player in the league is officially "policed" for this kind of stuff, it seems unfair to target one guy -- Burr is not Sean Avery. However, all the other crap after the whistle is worth re-thinking -- the cheapshots after scoring chances and the goalie run-ins etc.
Master Mind
No way he can be punished. There's no proof of what he said. Just his word against Tootoo's.
on the cycle
personally I think Tootoo is being overly sensitive. I know he doesn't like Burrows and this is probably just him trying to cause trouble for him.

Mr.DirtyDangles
This league is truly run by a circus of fools. With clear bias and intent bleeding through every seam, the game is suffering and the fans are reeling. The unabashed and in your face corruption is now a nightly display. Sadly the clowns in charge are neatly taking our money grinning from ear to ear while we continue to lap up the sour milk.
Jägermeister
You guys have no idea what Burrows said.Sure this could be an overreaction by the NHL, but there are somethings that Burrows could have said to Tootoo regarding his personal life that I would 100% stand by the NHL with suspending him for saying. And whose to say that meeting isn't just to get his side of the story? Again, we don't know.Let's wait and see.
