If the Canucks miss the Playoffs

It's more apparent now then ever that our beloved Canucks are just flat out terrible. Which is ok, because the real winner will be at the draft. We need to finish in the bottom 2 spots to have a legit chance at a number one center like Mathews. So if Edmonton thinks they're going to out crap us they better think again.

Which leads to this point, do you resign the Sedins in 2 years or let your supposed 1st line walk away, or should you not try and get something for them, please don't bring up the "No Move" clause, If you tell the Sedins we no longer see you in our plans they would give 3-4 teams they would be willing to go to. It's just simply a good buisness decision which makes your team better.

Benning said that the Sedins will retire here, which will probably happen when their contracts are up.

Actually it's very good, Sedin's have been exemplary people for the Canucks on and off the ice and absolutely deserve to finish their career's here and retire here, eventually with their sweaters being hung on the rafters.

I salute the Canucks for their professionalism with the Sedin's.

You know what is terrible? The fans that see their team in SCF with a few wins. It loses a few and suddenly the team is terrible. We are exactly where every hockey analyst thought we'd be at this point.

By the way, you might want to learn that "apparent now than ever" is correct. They say it's never too late to learn.

The team on a whole isn't terrible at all.

The reason the Canucks will miss the playoffs is the defense. It's barely NHL calibre. No real leaders on the backend, and no accountability from the vets either.

This team needs a couple of players who truly wear their hearts on their sleeves and show anger or disappointment after a loss. Until then the lack of a killer instinct will haunt this team.

You must have missed this thread a week ago where Benning went on radio and in response to a question announced that the twins would retire as Canucks:

http://forum.canucks.com/topic/373106-benning-says-sedins-will-retire-as-canucks/

The only way I see them leaving is in the last year of their contract where they decide to do the organization a huge favour by approaching Trev and JB and "asking" to be moved at the deadline to a team with a chance to win the Cup so that the team could at least get something in return rather than leaving a big hole in the lineup. Realistically, given the quality people they are, a Cup with any team other than the Canucks probably wouldn't mean as much as hoisting one for the team, city and province they've come to love.

I would cool  the jets on the salute. You don't know what the future holds.

Huh?

4th in the division 2 points out of second....:  http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/standings#/division

We've got different definitions of terrible.  Losing endless 1 goal games does not make a team terrible.  Drafting 1st overall in 5 of 7 years does.  Missing the playoffs  for a decade does.  making the playoffs once in 10 years and then losing game 7 after holding a 3 goal lead makes you terrible.

Maybe it's just me though

November 26th is American Thanksgiving. Where-ever we are in the standings on this date is usually indicative of where we will finish the season. We have 3 games to get into a Playoff spot by then. As of right now, Chicago would take the final spot and we would be barely missing out. It looks like only 3 teams from the Pacific Division will make it in this year. We could wind up on either side of the line. Let's hope for the best.

If I may...you gotta watch the games, bro. They are not good enough and it's more apparent than ever. If there was ever a year to tank, it's this one. Not because of the players available, but because we don't have a replacement for Henrik in the system. AT ALL! Bo or Jared are maybes at this point, but do we wanna end up like Edmonton and have no one mentor the next wave of talent coming in and show them how to be a professional? Or do we want the Sedins to ease the transition so that when they are gone in two years,  a player like Auston Matthews is ready to take the reins? I want the latter.

The Sedin's signed their last contract with the intention of it being their last in the NHL period, and Benning's gone on record of saying that they will retire here. So they're not getting moved. If the play outside of Vancouver, it's going to be in Sweden. They'll be Canucks the whole way through.

We're not going to tank...

We're going to win or lose based on our roster.  We're to good to tank but not good enough for the playoffs.  That's the meat of it.  And the possibility still exists that Lindenning might actually rent or purchase players for a playoff push as per rumoured owners MO

We'll draft between 9-10 and hopefully pick up a Fabbro or someone similar.

My thoughts exactly. First losing streak of the season and its the "tanksters" out in full force. If we were getting blown out in games then maybe there would be some concern but most losses have been by 1 goal so we ARE competing. I see the injuries being the main reason for recent losses. Nice to have Sbisa back and Weber out but it will be a lot better once Sutter returns.
