6 points in 13 games at a +4 ...

he has turned the corner, no?

Yes he has. He is a large, aggressive, tough defenseman. Something the Canucks don't have. At all.

Unless Benning goes out and trades for Hamonic and Schenn, Benning has to look to Pedan for some real deterrence. Dorsett isn't scaring anyone.

He's looked good in Utica and we need a call-up with Sbisa and Hutton both day-to-day. I'd rather give Pedan a shot than see Weber struggle in front of our net.

Panarin and Kane are going to destroy whoever we have on defence, but at least Pedan is physical enough to try and contain them. Weber and Bartkowski would get absolutely embarassed by those skilled guys.

..really wish there was a link to watch the Comets games.. Even if it was a delay!  Theres too much interest in the Nucks farm team for this not to be.

The team has probably close to no cap space - when Markstrom went down they had to put Higgins on LTIR to create cap room to call up Bachman because they were at less than 200K at the start of the season.

Maybe now that they are close to being back at 14F they will move at least one to have some flexibility to bring up players.  Pedan, Grenier, Kenins, Jensen are all waiver eligible next year so I would think they'd get a few games this season.

Sharing knowledge is much appreciated. Thank you .

Our only game "Presence" falls to the hands of Dorsett and Prust. This is unfair to them. Its a silver line and game changer that shines through teams like Winnipeg, Boston, Chicago, New Jersey, even the Leafs as a team can shift into a more physical presence than what we can.

its an opportunity.. Physicality is one part of Pedan's game,. He brings it.

Pedan deserves it.

You are bang on here. Prust's absence has been more detrimental than anybody realizes. The opposing teams do not seem intimidated by Dorsett. This also has to have an effect on the team as well as they appear to play a little more tentative and less confident against the bigger tougher teams of late. Also we had replaced Sbisa with Weber which did not exactly improve our toughness at all.

Yup.  A lot of our guys got a little softer and smaller with those two out.

This team did not solve the grit issue with Dorsett. He's too small to act as a deterrent. And while Prust is tough, he's 31 and will probably only be here for this season.

It would be nice to have some serious size on the team that provides pushback. Edler, being the biggest defensemen, should provide it, but clearly doesn't.

Sbisa doesn't relish fighting, and the rest of the defense is to busy chasing the play to provide any grit, outside of the occasional Barftowski hit.

If we can sign Prust,. Next year we will have every weight category covered.  Dorsett, Prust, Pedan &Tryamkin ("The Russian Bears")

pedan sure would look good tonight though.:)

I think getting Pedan time in the NHL is a must this year and hopefully he flourishes. It would just be an easier transition for a guy like Tryamkin who would be coming over soon hopefully or luring a guy like the rumoured Nikita Zaitsev over with having a North American adapted Russian on the team. It wouldn't even really be a stretch calling Pedan up given his play and size in the AHL thus far.

Zaitsev won't be signing with the Canucks.

The Canucks are rumoured to be interested and have 3 spots on defence opening up for next year. If they really like what they see giving guaranteed NHL ice time and some Russian influence I'd say they have a small chance of signing him.

Why not, and who is he anyway?

He's one of the top offensive dmen in the KHL at 24 years old. Reportedly wants to play in the NHL next year and was undrafted so anybody can sign him. Has strong ties to the Maple Leafs who are the current favourites to land him. However a good pitch of ice time and incoming Russian players in Pedan and Tryamkin could sway in his mind one would think.

Is he a lefty or a righty?  I'm guessing lefty, because it seems almost all top Russians are lefties.

Just leave him in Utica for now. I would rather have Biega in the lineup. We know what he brings to the table and the Canucks do not need anymore question marks.

But but... I thought you said we have an AHL defense? So wouldn't trying out other AHL defense to see if they fit actually help out?
