Lucic would bring good things to this club we have no one else who could bring the security to our top players in our line up right now..if we added him in replace of vrbata who in their right mind wouldnt do that?!!? Like comon!  These Lucic isnt tough comments...BS! Stop focusing on the last few dumb things he has done. That just isnt the only thing a guy like him could bring. Guy has worled hard to get to where he is at. And adding him and Buff can put us in a shot for one last sedin cup run! Yah know we coulda won that game 7 with a little more grit. (Better refs..as ell) And if our young guys play better each of the next 2 years and JB and TL keep adding and tweaking 2018 and even next year 16/17 i see this team rising above a lot of teams in our conference.

And if in that one last Sedin run the Canucks don't win the Cup, what then?

We still have Lucic, Byfuglien, Matthews or Chychrun, Edler, Hutton, Virtanen, Horvat, Baertschi, Etem, McCann, Boeser, Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Grenier, Rodin, Subban, Brisebois, Penan, Tryamkin, Markstrom, Demko and so on...

For sure I would go for it.

Hopefully he signs with LA, then that increases our likelihood of having some capspace going into next season, giving the opportunity to poach from teams in cap trouble should it not go up by much or even decrease.

There's more than one way to get good assets at a discount.

ahh... maahh.... Ghahhh.

Poaching is like sooooo Gillis.

Friend, have you noticed recent trends occurring within the Vancouver organization?

Hockey trades, waivers and a healthy internal competition for position in constant, detailed assessment.

The casino deals are over. Benning is building a hockey team.

10/10 on the response scale. Is there any comment you can provide that doesn't make you sound ridiculous?

And I thought you were "done". By all accounts, you are.

I always read your posts with a British accent in my head.

I'd have no problem fighting him myself. But that wouldn't prove anything and it wouldn't be beneficial either. I don't have any person problem with him that needs to be solved with fists.

All you really need to do is watch a hockey game, the guy is a coward with anger management issues. He goes for dirty cheap shots and whatever but he certainly doesn't bring a whole lot of toughness. If he did come to Vancouver he wouldn't be able to get away with any of his cheap stuff and then the only thing you would be left with is a big, slow, unskilled, overpaid player on a long term contract. We can pay someone like John Scott league minimum to punch people with his gloves on and spear players in the groin.

Credibility lost after:

"I'd have no problem fighting him myself."

pretty sure you'd have problems. Serious, life altering problems.

Fair enough! I read Deniro's posts with an American Italian lilt to them. And your posts with Richie Valens' singing voice.

I'm born and bred in Vancouver to an American mother and an Irish father. No British in me.

You do realize that just because Lucic fights occasionally on the ice doesn't mean too much.

He wouldn't stand a chance against anyone who has trained in boxing or mma for more than a few months.

Funny you mention that, Lucic used to train in boxing back in the day.

There's a video of him as a teen destroying some other kid. The other kid wasn't very good but still, who knows how good Lucic was when he trained.

I wouldnt disagree with that other than you saying "a few months".  A few months is nothing.  We are talking about big, very strong cardio machines here who have been in dozens of fights.  Nevermind that lucic along with all enforcers have the "screw loose factor" and high pain thresholds.

if anyone here wants to come forward with their "tough guy" credentials, that would be a start, before just claiming  they would fight anyone of these nhl fighters.

but I'll always laugh at anyone keyboarding that they would fight a professional hockey player especially a notoriously tough nhl fighter.

i personally know a retired pro enforcer with a couple games in the nhl, but mostly an A guy.  He has over a hundred fights under his belt.  I wouldn't even consider a staring contest.  A 100+ fights against the leagues toughest, many of those guys so train mma - mirasty, Bosse, yablonski etc.  It's pretty common now. That's their job. They train for it.  It's not the 70's where guys just drop the mitts.

i doubt anyone here has had 100+ fights against those types of opponents.

With 14 million to top it off nicely at that!

Toffoli and Pearson deserve monster raises. I'd say Toffoli's one of the most underrated players in the NHL by far and if he gets a legit crack somewhere else on a top line he's going to become a star.

Lombardi could royally screw that up if he breaks the bank on Lucic.
