So the idea is that the Sharks trade their #1 workhorse, a 26 year old they think a lot of and who has better stats than Miller with a salary 1/2 of Miller's and who is 9 years younger than Miller, and add Brent Burns.

The Sharks would have a good laugh at this proposal.

Martin Jones is their #1 goalie.  This summer they traded a 2016 1st round pick plus rights to an NCAA prospect for him.  At the time of the trade Doug Wilson was quoted as follows:

"We obviously feel very strongly about him," Wilson said. "If you see something that you really want, we have no problem paying full value and going up and getting him. That's what we did."  http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=773015

and, further:

“Martin was at the top of our list of players that we had targeted,” Sharks GM Doug Wilson said in a release. “We’re extremely excited to have him on board.”  http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/martin-jones-boston-bruins-san-jose-sharks-trade/

They then signed Jones to a 3 year deal at $3 million per.  Since then he's become their workhorse starter.  His save % of .916 is better than Ryan Miller's .909.  His GAA of 2.37 is quite a bit better than Ryan Miller's 2.74.  His 3 shutouts in his first 26 starts is quite a bit better than Ryan Miller's 1 in his 1st 28 starts.  His w/l record (not a decent goalie stat, but some on here seem to place some credence in it) of 14-10-2 is better than Miller's 10-11-6 (all stats from hockey-reference.com as of the time of this posting.)

Jones has played 61 NHL games with a GAA of 2.16, a save % of .920 and 10 shutouts.  Why would Doug Wilson want to pay twice as much for Miller?
